This guide will tackle everything players need to know about the 5-star Mismagius Ghost Tera Type Tera Raid event, including the best ways to take on its Tera-powered Ghost-type moves in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is bringing a powerful Ghost-type Pokemon into the game for Halloween, with a 5-Star Raid featuring a Mismagius set to appear in the Paldea and Kitakami regions. As it’s a solo Ghost-type Pokemon, players can pick from a small pool of Pokemon to defeat this foe.

Luckily, there are plenty of counters that players can prepare before this ghostly Pokemon arrives. If you want to come out on top during Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s Halloween event, here’s everything you need to know about 5-Star Mismagius Tera Raids.

When will Mismagius appear in Tera Raids?

According to the official Serebii Twitter page, the 5-Star Mismagius Tera Raids will occur from October 27 through to October 31. Mismagius is usually a Pokemon Violet exclusive, but the Tera Raid version will appear in both games, allowing Pokemon Scarlet players to capture one without trading.

Mismagius Moveset & Type

The 5-Star Tera Raid Mismagius has the Ghost Tera Type. This means it takes double damage from Ghost and Dark-type moves, half damage from Poison and Bug-type moves, and is immune to Normal and Fighting-type moves. Mismagius also has the Levitate Ability, protecting it from Ground-Type moves.

Mismagius is a Special Attacker, with weak Physical stats. Mismagius’ main moveset includes Mystical Fire, Shadow Ball, Confuse Ray, and Taunt. However, it can also possess Light Screen or Nasty Plot as additional moves.

Luckily, players can use Mismagius’ solo type against it by bringing Normal-Type Pokemon and giving them the Dark Tera Type. This will make them immune to its Ghost-type moves while giving them the capacity to deal lots of damage.

Best Kingambit builds for 5-Star Mismagius Raids

As a Dark/Steel-type with a powerful Physical stat spread, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s Kingambit is the perfect foil for Mismagius. The only issue is the part Steel-type, but this can be worked around. Kingambit should bring Kowtow Cleave, Swords Dance, Iron Head, Taunt or Rain Dance. Make sure Kingambit has the Defiant Ability, as it will be a huge help in battle.

There are two main strategies for this fight. First, use Taunt to prevent Mismagius from using Mystical Fire, which is Kingambit’s biggest weakness in this Tera Raid. You can then use Swords Dance a few times to increase your attacking power and hit it with Kowtow Cleave for an easy victory.

The other method is to use Rain Dance to lower the effectiveness of Fire-type moves, making it more likely to tank a Mystical Fire. This is because you want Mystical Fire to hit, as it will lower Kingambit’s Attack stat by one stage. The Defiant Ability will then kick in, increasing its Attack by two stages, giving you a free buff. Just make sure to equip a healing held-item to offset the damage.

Best Weavile Builds for 5-Star Mismagius Raids

Weavile is a Dark/Ice-type Pokemon that would seemingly be a bad choice for this fight. After all, it has a x4 weakness to Fire-type attacks, with Mismagius sporting a Mystical Fire. Like with the Kingambit strategy, you can disable Mismagius’ use of Mystical Fire with Taunt.

For this battle, bring in a Weavile with a Dark Tera Type. Its moves should include Night Slash, Taunt, Screech, and Swords Dance. Use Taunt to disable Mystical Fire, throw up Swords Dance to buff Weavile, use Screech to weaken Mismagius’ defenses, then hit it with Night Slash. Make sure to boost your Dark-type STAB even further by Terastallizing at the start of the battle.

Best Hisuian Zoroark Builds for 5-Star Mismagius Raids

Hisuian Zoroark is a Normal/Ghost-type Pokemon, which gives it some significant advantages over Mismagius, due to its immunity to Ghost-type moves and only taking double damage from Dark-type moves. This Pokemon uses a similar shutdown and damage strategy, only this time, it goes for Special damage.

For this battle, bring in a Hisuian Zoroark with the Ghost Tera Type. Its moves should be Shadow Ball, Taunt, Nasty Plot, and Fake Tears. Use Taunt to shut down Mismagius’ status attacks, use Nasty Plot to boost your Special Attack, Fake Tears to lower its Special Defense, and then whack it with Shadow Ball. Essentially, you’re trading the ability to hit its Physical weak point for some extra immunities.
