Historically, maintaining a favorite Ultimate Team card’s relevance was a steep uphill battle. The series, previously known as FIFA, frequently unveiled new promotions featuring stronger players, quickly sidelining your club’s star unless they bagged another special card.

EA SPORTS FC 24 attempts to fix that issue with the introduction of Evolutions. For the first time in series history, players will be able to upgrade cards over the course of a year by completing objectives.

How Evolutions work in EA FC 24

Evolutions allow users to upgrade their squad players’ base stats to turn them into better cards. Any player who fits the requirements for evolution can be evolved, including all promo cards and Team of the Week cards.

Players can also acquire new PlayStyles for their favorite cards, including PlayStyles+.

Players can upgrade individual attributes, including shooting, physical, defending, pace, passing, and dribbling, by completing objectives themed around that area. For example, to improve a player’s shooting, an objective of scoring goals may require completion to evolve the player.

The feature also allows evolved players to learn a new position. This means a midfielder could be turned into a winger and more.

There will also be a selection of Evolution that are Season-based and limited for a certain period of time. The development team promises to keep this feature “fresh and updated” by adding more ways to evolve squads throughout the seasons and year.

Additionally, players can have “as many Evolution players in their squad as you want,” but players can only activate one to Upgrade at a time.

EA FC 24’s Senior Producer told Dexerto how he thinks Evolutions will affect the Ultimate Team meta going forward.

How to Evolve a player in FUT

Per the EA team, FUT players will be able to get Evolutions by completing a certain requirement. Some examples would be to play a certain amount of games in which the card scores or to play in Squad Battles, among others.

There will also be a paid version of Evolutions, which costs 50,000 coins or 1,000 FC Points.

Which players are eligible for Evolutions?

Not every player in Football Ultimate Team will be eligible for an Evolution. Here is the list of Evolutions currently available in EA FC 24.
