A Legendary Pokemon from the Alola region, learn how to add Tapu Koko to your Pokemon Go collection, and if it can be Shiny, with our full guide.

Pokemon Sun and Moon back on the Nintendo 3DS were full of strange and powerful Pokemon. Alongside creatures like the Ultra Beasts, Alola also fostered the Tapus, a series of interesting creatures that worked alongside the new Z-move mechanic.

Perhaps the most well-known of the bunch, and maybe the most powerful, is Tapu Koko, an Electric and Fairy-type Pokemon with a distinct orange tint.

So, if you want to add this powerful Legendary Pokemon to your team in Pokemon Go, learn exactly how to do that, and whether it can be Shiny, with our full guide.

In Pokemon Go, Tapu Koko is a Legendary Pokemon only available through Raids. Ordinarily, in Five-star raids, Pokemon Go players will have to build a powerful team to counter Tapu Koko, though it is a great Pokemon to use in competitive matches and raids.

Thankfully, Tapu Koko is appearing in Raids during March 2024 due to the Pokemon Go World of Wonders season. Find out more about the World of Wonders season here, as well as more about Raids this month with our full Pokemon Go Raid Boss Schedule guide.

Can Tapu Koko be Shiny in Pokemon Go?

Yes, players that battle Tapu Koko in Pokemon Go Raids have a chance to encounter a Shiny version of the powerful Pokemon.

While regular Tapu Koko has a yellow shell and a bright orange body with a black torse, Shiny Tapu Koko has a dark black shell, with a paler orange body, but still the same black body. You can spot the difference ordinarily thanks to the sparkles Shiny Pokemon gives off.
