Minecraft has revealed a brand new hostile mob called the ‘Bogged,’ which is set to debut in the 1.21 update.

The upcoming 1.21 update will be focused on adding new combat features including the new Trial Chambers, which will offer players a challenge of wits and quick reflexes to earn rare loot.

In those Trial Chambers, players will be able to find one of the new hostile mobs, the Breeze, whose wind-based attacks will provide a unique combat experience.

But Mojang does not appear to be stopping there, as they have revealed yet another new mob that will be joining the Breeze when 1.21 releases later in 2024.

What is the Bogged?

The Bogged is a new type of hostile mob, a variant of the Skeletons, that will attack players.

Unlike regular Skeletons, however, the Bogged do not shoot regular arrows. Instead, they will fire off poisoned-tipped arrows that will apply that poison effect to players. So, they’re a much more deadly type of Skeleton.

However, Bogged still have the same weakness to sunlight that Skeletons and Zombies have, as they are also a type of undead mob.

Where can you find the Bogged?

The Bogged will primarily be found in the swamps and Mangrove swamps of Minecraft, but they will also be found in the Trial Chambers.

Given that the Bogged are are portrayed as a mud-caked Skeleton, it would make sense that players would be able to come across them in those mud-filled swamps.

When is the Bogged coming to Minecraft?

The Bogged will arrive in Minecraft with the 1.21 update, although it’s not yet known when that update will be released.

But if you want to get the chance to fight this mob early, it was revealed that the Bogged will be added to Minecraft via snapshots. So you will be able to test out and fight the Bogged ahead of the update.
