Pokemon starters are some of the players’ favorite creatures from the franchise, and thanks to the current Road to Sinnoh event, they can catch all of the ones from Gen 4, such as Prinplup. Here’s every way you can add the Water-type penguin lookalike to your team.

The Water-type starter family from Gen 4’s Sinnoh Region consists of the tiny cute Piplup -known for being Dawn’s main Pokemon in the anime-, its middle stage Prinplup and its final form Empoleon.

They were all introduced to Pokemon Go back in 2018 when the Sinnoh Pokedex was included in the game, and now they are back in the spotlight thanks to the special event taking place in February

For those players looking for a Prinplup with perfect IVs, here are all the ways you can snatch one to dominate the Catch Cup: Little Edition league or to evolve it into the ultimate Empoleon.

How to get Prinplup in Pokemon Go

There are currently three ways you can get a Prinplup in the game:

As a wild encounter.
As a 3-Star Raid Boss.
Through the evolution method.

Previously, players were able to find it in Research Tasks like the “Throwback Challenge 2020: Sinnoh.”

Now, during the Road to Sinnoh event, players will have more chances of getting one from February 19, 2024, until February 23, 2024.

How to evolve Piplup into Prinplup & Empoleon in Pokemon Go

You can easily evolve Piplup into Prinplup by using 25 Candy. Once that’s done, you can use 100 extra Candy to turn Prinplup into its final evolution, Empoleon.

There are no special requirements, items, or Buddy tasks required for this evolution process (aside from gathering all the required Candy), which makes it relatively easy.

Can Prinplup be Shiny in Pokemon Go?

Yes, players will be able to find a Shiny Prinplup in the game. However, during the Road to Sinnioh event, they won’t find it as Prinplup per se, as this Shiny version won’t spawn in the wild or any Raid battles during that time.

Players trying to get themselves a Shiny Prinplup must capture a Shiny Piplup first and then use 25 Candies to evolve it.
