Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 patch notes

Battle Pass skins featuring Greek Mythology characters

The latest Fortnite season titled Myths and Mortals brings a brand new Battle Pass full of Greek Mythology characters.

The pass features the Greek god of Thunder Zeus, the Legend of the underworld Hades, Artemis, Cerberus, Aphrodite, Medusa, Poseidon, and Avatar Korra. Furthermore, players will be able to unlock the Ares skin from April’s Fortnite Crew.

Moreover, the Odyssey skin seen in Chapter 5 Season 1 as an NPC will be a free Ranked reward for all players completing quests in Ranked mode.

You can also get digital codes from Walmart and Best Buy. Xbox players can grab theirs from Microsoft directly. If your Epic account is linked to your console accounts, you can buy through Epic directly too.

Fortnite x Avatar collaboration

Epic Games has now collaborated with the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender‘s spinoff and brings Korra, who is the immediate successor of Aang as a Battle Pass collab skin in Chapter 5 Season 2.

The collab also brings the mythic abilities of Korra to the game which will also be an item playable during Battle Royale matches.

New mythic items and weapons

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 brings four new Mythic weapons to the game that are obtainable by defeating four different bosses across the island. Firstly, the Thunderbolt of Zeus can be obtained from the island or by defeating Zeus himself. It launches the user up in the air and hurls lightning bolts at your target.

The second weapon is the Gatekeeper Shotgun which fires three aggressive shots in quick succession. This can be obtained as regular loot or the Mythic version can be acquired by defeating the Cerberus boss. The third new weapon is the Harbinger SMG which is highly accurate at the first shot but increases recoil and bloom with consecutive shots.

You can get the base rarities across the island or the mythic version by defeating Hades on the map. The fourth one is the Huntress DMR which works perfectly as a long-range marksman rifle to hunt down gods. You can either claim this from the island, buy it from Artemis, or defeat Zeus for the mythic variant.

Additionally, a Warforged Assault Rifle is also introduced which comes with a high rate of fire and recoil and can be found across the island easily. You can also defeat Ares boss on the island and get the Mythic version.

Lastly, Wings of Icarus is a brand new traversal item that grants you the power of flight which limits the height you can reach and break if you take damage from incoming shots. Lastly, the Chains of Hades is another Mythic item that will be added later this season, alongside a customizable Hand Cannon.

Furthermore, several weapons will remain in this season such as Hammer Pump Shotgun, Frenzy Auto Shotgun, Nemesis AR, Thunder Burst SMG, Reaper Sniper Rifle, Cluster Clingers, and Ranger Pistol.

New map locations and POIs

Four new POIs have been added to the Fortnite Chapter 5 map, namely Mount Olympus, Grim Gate, The Underworld, and Brawler’s Battleground.

Each of these POIs has been themed after Greek Mythology architecture and hosts NPC bosses roaming the area. You can defeat the boss there and grab a Mythic weapon to help you claim the Victory Royale.

New Weapon Mods

Since Weapon Mods was a new feature introduced in the previous Fortnite season, in Chapter 5 Season 2 Epic has added a couple of new mods that suit the new weapons perfectly. These include a Thermal scope which gives thermal vision to the user for any scoped weapon.

The second mod is the Speedgrip Mod where your movement speed while aiming will increase. Also, this time around the mod benches are in new Weapons Bunkers. The bunkers that are unchained will unlock in the middle of the match when they become ready to raid.

Festival instruments included in Battle Pass

After a heated backlash on prices of Fortnite Festival instruments, Epic has now included free instruments for Battle Pass skins within the pass itself. This means owners of the pass will now have access to instruments themed to their skins they have unlocked alongside other cosmetic items.

However, it is currently unclear if all Battle Pass skins will have their themed instruments or not.

New skins and cosmetic bundles

New starter packs for Chapter 5 Season 2 have also been decrypted and will be introduced later this season. These include a Battle Royale starter pack featuring the Clara skin, a pickaxe, and back bling.

Similarly, a Save The World starter pack called Vinderman 2.0 pack has also been added to the current season which will soon be released in the Item Shop. Lastly, a LEGO Fortnite starter pack for Chapter 5 Season 2 named Operation Brite pack has been added which gives buyers a Brite Agent skin, a back bling, and a digital Brite Bomber Bedroom building set.

Furthermore, Midas is back as a new greek-themed skin alongside other skins that will soon be added like Olympus, Chewbacca from Star Wars (alongside a mythic weapon) and a lantern fest cosmetic outfit.

Floor is Lava LTM returns

According to data miners, the Floor is Lava LTM will be returning in Chapter 5 Season 2 in a future update. The entire map will be engulfed in Lava and players will need to survive the heat to claim their Victory.

Furthermore, a tournament of the same LTM is also rumored to arrive later this season.

New medallions

Five new medallions will be available for players to use in a Fortnite Battle Royale and Zero Build match. These medallions can be acquired from bosses around the Chapter 5 Season 2 island by defeating them.

These medallions each grant players Combat, Siphon, Speed and Agility powers during their Battle Royale gameplay.

New competitive tournaments

With a new Fortnite season, the iconic Women of the Erena tournament returns to the game. The tournament is an all-women invitational competition that will take place on March 16 (Qualifiers) and March 23 (Main Event). Winners get a chance to grab a share of the $75,000 prize pool.

Furthermore, a new PlayStation Cup, Console Cash Cups, Victory Cash Cups, and Ranked Cups have all been announced which will take place throughout the duration of Chapter 5 Season 2.

LEGO Fortnite building kits

With update v29.00 and Chapter 5 Season 2, LEGO Fortnite players will be able to purchase digital building kits which will include building blueprints and decor items themed to that kit.

These kits range north of 1800 V-Bucks and will provide lifetime access to the player to that particular building bundle and related items. However Epic has announced that they will also release some free kits, buildings, and decor items for players in the coming days.

Miscellaneous updates

  • Tweaked progression in the upper ranks in Ranked mode to make it harder and more rewarding to reach Unreal.
  • Points are no longer granted for surviving without taking damage in Ranked mode.
