With the Sinnoh region being in the spotlight due to the Road to Sinnoh event, players might want to use the opportunity to find themselves a perfect Monferno. If they get one, here’s the ideal moveset to teach it to dominate competitions like the Catch Cup: Little Edition league.

Every region in the franchise’s history has 3 sets of starter Pokemon, one for each base type. From Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard to Fuecoco, Crocalor, and Skeledirge, the Sinnoh region Fire-type family consists of Chimchar, Monferno, and Infernape.

These Fire-type apes were introduced in 2007 with the Diamond & Pearl titles and debuted in Pokemon Go in 2018 when the Gen 4 Pokedex was added to the game. Now, they are spawning everywhere, and some players might take advantage of the opportunity to catch a Monferno, as it is ideal to use in the currently active Catch Cup: Little Edition battle league.

During the Road to Sinnoh event, players will have the chance to get a Monferno from February 19, 2024, until February 23, 2024. If they happen to do so, here’s its best moveset to dominate every battle in the game.

Monferno general stats in Pokemon Go

This dual Fire/Fighting-type Pokemon has an attack-based stat spread of 158 (ATK), 105 (DEF), and 162 (STAT), and can reach a max CP value of 1574 in Pokemon Go, which can be boosted by Sunny or Cloudy weather.

Despite being vulnerable to Flying, Ground, Water, and Psychic-type attacks, Monferno’s type combination gives it a good set of resistances which include Steel, Dark, Fire, Grass, Ice, and Bug-type moves.

Best moveset for Monferno

The best moveset available for Monferno in Pokemon Go consists of Ember as a Fast Move and Flamethrower as a Charged Move, with 10.06 damage per second and 148.25 total damage output before it faints.

Even though Monferno has double typing, it’s better to stick to the Fire-type moves, as the Fighting-type attacks Rock Smash and Low Sweep deal very poor damage or work just as bait, respectively.

Is Monferno any good in Pokemon Go?

It’s no secret that most players don’t keep their Pokemon in their middle-stage evolutions, as the main focus of the process is to get the strongest ‘mon by leveling up and taking it to the ultimate stage.

However, Pokemon Go has some battles that require a certain amount of CP, and once a Pokemon exceeds it, it can’t participate anymore. That’s why players are taking advantage of the Sinnoh starters spawning everywhere to catch the perfect one to dominate the Catch Cup: Little Edition league, which allows Pokemon under 500 CP.

This league is currently active and Monferno is a decent choice for it, as its heavy Fast Move damage and ability to pressure the usage of shields, can help make the enemy waste their resources.

That’s everything you need to know about Monferno’s best moveset in Pokemon Go. Check out our other guides for more game content:
