Pokemon Go has introduced Hisuian Typhlosion into the mobile game, but some fans may have wondered what its best moveset is and whether it’s good in PvP. So, let’s go over that.

Pokemon Go announced that Hisuian Typhlosion, which debuted in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, would finally be coming to Pokemon Go.

Trainers can take on Hisuian Typhlosion during a Raid Day taking place on Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 2 PM to 5 PM local time.

After nabbing this Hisuian Starter evolution, some fans may wonder what its best moveset is and whether or not it’s any good in PvP content. As such, let’s break down Hisuian Typhlosion’s moves and its PvP potential.

Hisuian Typhlosion’s best moveset in Pokemon Go

The best movesets you can teach Hisuian Typhlosion for PvP Battles are Hex as the Fast Move with Shadow Ball and Fire Punch as the Charged Moves.

Hex is the better Fast Move option compared to Ember thanks to the Energy it generates. Additionally, Hex will also benefit from STAB thanks to Hisuian Typhlosion’s dual Fire/Ghost typing.

As for the Charged Move, trainers will want to opt for Shadow Ball. In total, the combo of Hex and Shadow Ball can put out nearly 16 damage per second, with a total damage output of 369 before Hisuian Typhlosion gets knocked out.

The second Charged Move slot should go to Fire Punch, thanks to STAB and the added type coverage.

Hisuian Typhlosion has two Fast Moves and four Charged Moves available in Pokemon Go, which are limited to Fire, Ghost, and Electric-type.

Hisuian Typhlosion Fast Moves

  • Ember (Fire/STAB)
  • Hex (Ghost/STAB)

Hisuian Typhlosion Charged Moves

  • Shadow Ball (Ghost/STAB)
  • Fire Punch (Fire/STAB)
  • Wild Charge (Electric)
  • Overheat (Fire/STAB)

Is Hisuian Typhlosion any good in Pokemon Go?

Unfortunately, Hisuian Typhlosion doesn’t really stand out in PvP content. While it’s certainly not a terrible option, there are simply Pokemon with the same type combination that perform better.

Specifically, Skeledirge outperforms Hisuian Typhlosion in every League, making it hard to sell the Fire/Ghost starter evolution for most trainers.

It also performs worse than Johtonian Typhlosion, which will be easier to come by for a while. According to PvPoke, Hisuian Typhlosion sits at 333rd overall in the Ultra League—where it will likely perform best.
