Find out when the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Online Competition will take place, the rule set, rewards, and, more.

The Pokemon Scarlet & Violet online Global Challenge I has been announced for 2024. In Japan and Korea, these tournaments are qualifiers for Nationals. In the West, points and rewards are awarded as outlined in this guide.

Players will receive rewards for battles that take place throughout the week-long tournament. Find out everything about the Play Pokemon Global Challenge below.

When is the Pokemon Global Challenge and Registration?

The Pokemon Global Challenge will take place between February 2 – February 4, 23:59 UTC.

The registration will take place between January 25 – February 1, 23:59 UTC via Poke Portal in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

How to play in the Global Challenge 2024

Anyone who wants to compete needs to link their Pokemon Trainer Club account to their Nintendo Account. To do that follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Nintendo Account at Nintendo.com
  2. Log into your Pokemon Trainer Club account at Pokemon.com
  3. Click on the option “Nintendo Account Link” from the left-hand menu
  4. Click “Link to Nintendo Account”, and after reading the information there click “Agree” on Nintendo.com if you agree
  5. If you followed the steps above correctly, you should receive a message confirming that your Pokemon Trainer and Nintendo accounts are linked
  6. From there open up the “Pokemon Portal” on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
  7. Then select “Battle Stadium” from the menu
  8. Go to “Online Competitions” and select your location
  9. Players who are 16 or older should select “Master Division”, 11-17 can select “Senior Division” and 11 years or younger must select “Junior” division
  10. Then click “Official Competitions” and hit “Search”
  11. Select the competition, and submit your team. You cannot change this once the competition begins.

Once this is done, you’ll be able to receive Championship Points from the competitions. Players from all regions will play together in the Global Challenge. You must sign up before the competition begins to play.

Should you have any issues completing this, you can request support by submitting a ticket, or post in the Pokemon Community forums and ask for some assistance.

What rewards can Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players receive from the Global Challenge?

Players can receive the following awards if they compete in 3 battles:

What are the rules for the Pokemon Global Challenge?

The format will be double battles and these will follow Regulation F rules. This means you can use Pokemon from the Indigo Disc DLC and Terastralising is permitted. However, Pechurant will be banned, along with the other Pokemon mentioned in the list lower down.

You must use a team of between 4-6 Pokemon of any level, but they will be set to level 50 for the battle.

Players will first have a team preview window of 90 seconds where they will see each other’s Pokemon. The total time is 10 minutes per game, with a turn limit of 60 seconds.

The following Pokemon are banned from the tournament, so players cannot use them in a team in these tournament battles:
