Hisuian forms are some of the most sought-after variations in Pokemon Go and with the Eggs-pedition Access Ticket players can get a special encounter with a Hisuian Growlithe. If you’re planning on evolving it into Hisuian Arcanine, here’s its best moveset and whether or not it’s worth your time.

Some Pokemon in the franchise can have more than one form variation depending on their location, if they are carrying special items, or simply just by their era, as with the Hisuian Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

These forms debuted in Pokemon Go in 2022 and are previous versions of creatures we know very well such as Qwilfish, Sliggoo, Braviary, and Growlithe, but they have special and interesting characteristics, as well as different typings.

During this month’s Eggs-pedition, players who complete the Timed Research between February 1, 2024 and February 29, 2024 will have the chance to catch a Hisuian Growlithe which can then be evolved into the staggering Hisuian Arcanine.

If you’re determined to get yourself a Hisuian Arcanine in the mobile game, here’s everything about its moveset as well as whether or not it’ll be a good addition to your team.

Hisuian Arcanine general stats in Pokemon Go

This dual Fire and Rock-type Pokemon has an attack-based stat spread of 232 (ATK), 165 (DEF), and 216 (STAT), and can reach a max CP value of 3145 in Pokemon Go, which can be boosted by Sunny or Partly Cloudy weather.

Unlike the pure Fire Kanto version, Hisuian Arcanine is vulnerable to Fighting and Rock-type moves, taking double damage from Water and Ground attacks. However, it has a good amount of resistances such as Normal, Flying, Poison, Bug, Ice, Fairy, and Fire.

Best moveset for Hisuian Arcanine

The best moveset available for Hisuian Arcanine in Pokemon Go consists of Snarl as a Fast Move and Rock Slide as a Charged Move, with 14.12 damage per second and a solid 407.5 total damage output before it faints.

Even though Hisuian Arcanine has Fire Fang as a Fast Move and can use it to benefit from STAB, it is a lousy attack due to its poor energy gains, which delays the usage of any Charged move. That’s why it’s better to use Snarl, as you’ll be able to gather energy faster and access the powerful Rock Slide.

Is Hisuian Arcanine any good in Pokemon Go?

No, despite its imposing design and size, Hisuian Arcanine does not excel in Pokemon Go. According to Pvpoke, its best overall ranking is #299 in Master League, ranking even worse in Great and Ultra League.

Because of its lack of bulkiness and many single and double weaknesses, it’s not even a good choice for defending a Gym or to use in Raid battles, which is a shame due to its good offensive potential and decent moveset.
