Mega Steelix is coming back to Pokemon Go for a limited time in Mega Raid battles. So if you’re planning on adding this improved metal snake to your team, here’s everything you need to know, including its best moveset and whether or not it’s worth your time.

Mega Steelix is part of the many Mega beasts available in the game, alongside fan favorites like Mega Garchomp, Mega Gengar, and Mega Charizard.

Even though this gigantic beast debuted back in 2021, it’s coming to the game one more time for a limited period. From January 24, 2024, until January 31, 2024, Mega Steelix will appear in Mega Raid battles, just right after Mega Medicham leaves.

This dual Steel/Ground-type Pokemon has an attack-based stat spread of 212 (ATK), 327 (DEF), and 181 (STAT), and can reach a max CP value of 3670 in Pokemon Go. Mega Steelix is vulnerable to Fighting, Ground, Fire, and Water-type moves, but luckily for players, it has 10 type resistances.

Best moveset for Mega Steelix

The best moveset players can use for Mega Steelix in Pokemon Go consists of Iron Tail as a Fast Move and Heavy Slam as a Charged Move, with 13.00 damage per second, with an extra 604.8 damage before it faints.

As Mega Steelix has no Ground-type Fast Move, there is no point in using Earthquake as a Charge Move. Instead, just focus on the Steel attributes, as they’ll benefit from the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB) which deals 20% more damage. Besides, keep in mind that both attacks can get an extra boost from Snow weather.

  • Thunder Fang (Electric)

Mega Steelix Charged Moves

Is Mega Steelix any good in Pokemon Go?

Even though Mega Steelix is one of the bulkiest Pokemon in the game (partially thanks to its plenty of type-resistances and great DEF stat), it’s actually not a solid choice for battle, as it can be easily outclassed by stronger creatures like fan-favorite Mega Metagross.

However, thanks to its Mega condition, it can grant its Mega Boost to the rest of the team for a very long time, allowing them to take advantage of the unique Steel/Ground-type combo during combat.
