Here’s a look at what is to come during the Pokemon Go Lunar New Year 2024 event, including the debut of Drampa.

The 2024 Lunar New Year is coming up and that means it is time for yet another Lunar New Year event in Pokemon Go.

Last year featured Shiny Daramuka and this year’s event will usher in the debut of a Normal/Dragon-type, as well as include other Dragons in the Pokemon franchise.

Here’s a look at what’s to come in the Lunar New Year 2024 event.

Pokemon Go Lunar New Year 2024 start date & time

Pokemon Go’s Lunar New Year event starts on Monday, February 5, 2024 at 10 AM and runs until Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 8 PM local time.

Pokemon Go debut of Drampa in Lunar New Year event

The Lunar New Year event in Pokemon Go marks the debut of Drampa.

Drampa is a Normal/Dragon-type that made its debut in the Sun & Moon games of Pokemon Go.

We should note on top of Drampa’s regular form, its Shiny form will also debut as part of this event.

Pokemon Go Lunar New Year 2024 event bonuses

The Raging Battle event will feature the following bonuses:

  • Increased chance to become Lucky Friends
  • Increased chance for Lucky Pokemon in trades
  • Additional Candy for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws
  • Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws

Pokemon Go Lunar New Year 2024 wild encounters

The following Pokemon will be found more frequently in the wild during the Lunar New Year event:

  • Magikarp*
  • Dratini*
  • Shuckle*
  • Fennekin*
  • Skrelp*
  • Noibat*

Jangmo-o may also appear during this event.

Pokemon Go Lunar New Year raid bosses

The following Pokemon will appear in raids during the Lunar New Year 2024 event:

One-Star Raids

  • Deino*
  • Dratini*
  • Goomy*

Three-Star Raids

  • Drampa*
  • Druddigon*
  • Turtonator*

Pokemon Go Lunar New Year Field Research Challenge

The Lunar New Year event will also feature Field Research challenges.

Those who complete event-themed Field Research will receive the opportunity to catch the likes of Dratini, Trapinch, Gible. Swablu, Daramuka, Druddigon, Deino, Skrelp, Tyrunt, Goomy, Turtonator, and Drampa.

Global Challenge: Dragons Unleashed and Raids

This event will additionally feature a Global Challenge called Dragons Unleashed. Trainers will have to work together throughout the event to net 1,000,000,000 Nice Throws in order to get bonuses for the remainder of Lunar New Year.

The Global Challenge will further boast wild encounters and featured attacks as rewards, as well as One and Three-Star Raids.

Pokemon Go Lunar New Year paid Timed Research

Lunar New Year also is getting a paid Timed Research that costs $2 (or the local equivalent). This includes the following rewards:

  • Stardust, XP, and two Lucky Eggs
  • Encounters with event-themed Pokémon

Note that Timed Research expires, meaning all tasks must be completed and rewards claimed by Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 8 PM local time.
