Destiny 2 Riven’s Wishes II quest: Weak Curse Ascendant Chest locations

Open Ascendant Chest in Destiny 2.

To complete the Riven’s Wishes II quest you need to loot seven Ascendant Chests. Here are the ten Ascendant Chest locations in Destiny 2 when the Weak Curse is active in the Dreaming City.

To bridge the gap until The Final Shape, Bungie has added some new content for Guardians to try out. From late January to the beginning of March, a series of quests letting players farm Wish Tokens are being added.

These tokens can be used to acquire various unique rewards including Red Border Raid weapons, Lightfall Exotics, and seasonal Mementos. However, to get Wish Tokens you need to complete weekly quests and this week’s quest challenges players to loot seven Ascendant Chests.

Given how long it has been since Ascendant Chests have been relevant most have forgotten where to find them. To help you out we’ve put together this guide for every Ascendant Chest location in Destiny 2 when the Weak Curse is active.

How do Ascendant Chests work in the Dreaming City?

Ascendant Chests are lootable chests that spawn in the Dreaming City. Opening them requires the use of a Tincture of Queensfoil to receive the Ascendance buff usually followed by a platforming sequence that leads to the chest.

There are 30 Ascendant Chests in total with 10 spawning each week. Which 10 spawn depends on what level the city’s curse is at with it rotating between Weak Curse, Growing Curse, and Strong Curse.

The easiest way to identify what level the city’s curse is at is by looking at where Petra Venj is situated on the Dreaming City map. She moves every week with each location indicating a different strength level:

  • Weak Curse: The Strand
  • Growing Curse: Divalian Mists
  • Strong Curse: Rheasilvia

Weak Curse Ascendant Chest locations in Destiny 2

These are all the Ascendant Chest locations in the Dreaming City for when a Weak Curse is active and Petra is at The Strand:

Bay of Drowned Wishes

From the Dreaming City’s landing zone, immediately turn around and enter the Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector. Look for a rock on the left side with a large tree atop it. Jump on the tree to find a nearby platform that will have appeared if you have the Ascendance buff active. Follow this platform to find the first Ascendant Chest.

East Divalian Mists

Enter the large building on the east side of Divalian Mists and stand next to the left of the two statues in front of you. A platform that can be followed to ascend and eventually reach the Ascendant Chest will appear. The use of platforming aids like Strand Grapple, Heat Rises, and Icarus Dash are all useful here.

Spine of Keres

Head through the northern entrance in the Divalian Mists to reach the Spine of Keres. Continued through this area until reaching the spot highlighted on the map below. Follow the platforms that appear until you reach a large circular platform. From here, turn left and jump towards the tall rocks to reveal another platform leading to the Ascendant Chest.

Aphelion’s Rest

Complete the Aphelion’s Rest lost sector as normal. After beating the boss go to the room after the lost sector’s locked chest but don’t drop down to the beginning. Instead, stick to the right side of the platform and loot the Ascendant Chest that will appear at the end.

The Strand

Near Petra Venj’s location in The Strand, there are some mossy rocks that you can climb on. Ascend these and then jump on top of the decorative structure to reveal both invisible platforms and the fifth Ascendant Chest.

Chamber of Starlight

Near the beginning of the Chamber of Starlight lost sector there is a balcony that can be climbed on. Get on this balcony using the nearby rock and a set of invisible platforms will reveal theirselves and can be followed to reach the Ascendant Chest.

Rheasilvia

There is a platforming segment found in the north of Rheasilvia. Make your way around the edge of the cliff show below using these platforms to eventually reach the top area near the statue. The invisible path will spawn up here and lead to teh Ascendant Chest. Alternatively, using Strand Grapple lets you skip the platforming entirely trivalizing the process.

Harbinger’s Seclude

Head through the large doorway found in the north of Rheasilvia. Continue through the pathway that follows to reach Harbringer’s Seclude. Once again, contiue on to the very end where a statue is located. On the right side of the path leading to that statue a set of hidden platforms can be found that lead to the Ascendant Chest.

The Confluence

Directly below the Harbinger’s Seclude chest location there is a doorway. Follow the path beyond this doorway and turn right at the first large open space to find a portal in a hidden cave. Enter the portal and continue following the path to reach The Confluence. The platforming segment to reach the Ascendant Chest will spawn on the left side of The Confluence’s main room.

Gardens of Esila

Continue past The Confluence towards a large tree and enter the portal just past the tree to reach the Gardens of Esila. After going through the portal immediately turn around and go through the gate leading to a large grassy area. The invisible pathway to the Ascendant Chest will spawn on your right as shown below.
