Stardew Valley Scarecrow Range

Scarecrows are a fantastic way to keep crows away from your precious crops in Stardew Valley. Here’s everything you need to know about Scarecrow ranges in the game, and how to craft them.

Beloved indie title, Stardew Valley has so much content for farming sim fans to enjoy from tending to your crops, expanding your space, exploring the mines, and learning to fish. While you do all of this however, you’ll want to keep your farm safe, especially from pesky crows who will have sharp eyes on your crops.

Scarecrows are the perfect way to get rid of unwanted visitors in Stardrew Valley, and thankfully you only need to have reached level 1 Farming in the game in order to create them. Knowing the range that your Scarecrows cover on your farm is important however, as you’ll want to have as much protection as possible over your beloved crops.

So, here’s everything you need to know about Scarecrow range in Stardew Valley.

Stardew Valley Scarecrow Range
The range of the default Scarecrow is decent, but you’ll need to overlap a lot of them.

What is the Stardew Valley Scarecrow range?

The range for the Scarecrow in Stardew Valley is 8 tiles in all directions, at a total of 248 squares. This means that you can protect a decent amount of your crops. Despite this, though, there’ll likely be some spaces on your farm that aren’t protected due to the hexagonal shape of the range.

To combat this, we recommend making sure to maximize your output by placing down and overlapping Scarecrows with one another.

If you want to see this yourself while in-game, modder jltaylor1 has created a visual range highlight on PC that allows you to see the specific range of scarecrows and other items. If you’re unsure of how to install mods for Stardew, check out our handy guide.

As well as the regular Scarecrow, players can also obtain a Deluxe Scarecrow. The range for this Scarecrow is doubled, giving players even more peace of mind with a whopping 888 squares in total that can be protected.
