Pokemon Go’s Taken Treasures event sees the return of Team Go Rocket and features plenty of Shadow Pokemon, monster debuts, and even a brand new Shadow Legendary through Giovanni.
Taken Treasures is set to begin on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 12 AM local time, until Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 11:59 PM local time. Until the event ends, fans can also complete a Timed Research quest.
This Timed Research quest is pretty straightforward, but it also involves taking on Team Go Rocket and catching Shadow Pokemon. So, let’s break down each task you’ll need to complete and the rewards you can earn.

Step 1 of 4
- Spin 10 PokeStops – Poke Ball x25
- Defeat 5 Team Go Rocket Grunts – Bruxish encounter
- Make 20 Curveball Throws – Great Ball x15
Rewards: Stardust x1,000, Egg Incubator x1, and 1,000 XP
Step 2 of 4
- Catch 20 Pokemon – Hyper Potion x5
- Transfer 25 Pokemon – Scraggy encounter
- Defeat 5 Team Go Rocket Grunts – Revive x5
Rewards: Stardust x2,000, Silver Pinap Berry x1, and 2,000 XP
Step 3 of 4
- Make 30 Curveball Throws – Max Revive x5
- Defeat 10 Team Go Rocket Grunts – Weezing encounter
- Catch 5 Shadow Pokemon – Max Potion x5
Rewards: Stardust x3,000, Incense x1, and 3,000 XP
Step 4 of 4
- Transfer 30 Pokemon – Fast TM x3
- Defeat 10 Team Go Rocket Grunts – Vullaby encounter
- Purify 10 Shadow Pokemon – Charged TM x3
Rewards: Stardust x4,000, Boss Pose x1, and 4,000 XP
How to Participate in the Taken Treasures Timed Research
The Taken Treasures Timed Research is a paid quest and trainers can access it by purchasing it for $5.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency).
As it is a Timed Research quest it will expire, so fans should be sure to complete the tasks and claim their rewards before Thursday, February 01, 2024, at 11:59 PM local time.
