The latest entry in the Ys franchise, Ys X: Nordics, is on the way, and here’s everything we know about the game so far including its release window, trailer, and gameplay details.

The Ys series is one of the most beloved in the JRPG genre with each entry chronicling a new tale of red-haired adventurer Adol Christin. The newest title in the series, Ys X: Nordics, is the tenth installment, and although it was released in Japan in September 2023, NIS America has just revealed that it’s coming to the West in 2024.

Does Ys X: Nordics have a release date?

There isn’t a confirmed release date for Ys X: Nordics western release just yet, however, we do know that the game will be coming sometime in Fall 2024 so fans will get their hands on it before the end of the year.

What platforms will Ys X: Nordics be on?

The game will be coming to PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC when it releases in Fall 2024.

While this may be disappointing for Xbox players, there are still plenty of platform options to enjoy Ys X on.

The official Western announcement trailer for the game was shared by NIS America on February 14, 2024. It highlights some of the action-packed gameplay, as well as some of the characters Adol will meet on this adventure.

Ys X: Nordics story and gameplay details

Ys X: Nordics will feature naval combat.

This milestone entry in the Ys franchise is an action RPG that will feature plenty of fast-paced battles, including naval combat. Adol will cross paths with a new female protagonist, Karja Balta, after they find themselves bound by fate, and caught in the middle of a conflict between two different factions – a tribe of sailors known as the Normans, and the seemingly immortal Griegr.

Fans can expect to experience a heartfelt story, a heavy emphasis on exploration including ocean traversal, and a lot of exciting action. The new cross-action system will allow you to control both Adol and Karja in fights and combine their unique abilities to overcome foes.

Another new addition to this game is the Mana Action system which gives the player unique traversal abilities. You’ll be able to grapple and slide through dungeons, uncover hidden treasures, create new platforms to use, and destroy obstacles blocking your way in the different game environments.
