Riot Games’ tactical shooter Valorant has reshaped the FPS genre. With so much success on PC, fans have been wondering when they can expect the team-based shooter to arrive on console.
When it comes to FPS titles, Riot Games’ Valorant shifted the focus from traditional style shooters to a mix of fantasy and tactical play. The only issue with the game, however, is that it’s a PC exclusive.
It’s no surprise that console players are desperate to get in on the action, and fans have been begging for Riot to drop the shooter on Playstation and XBOX since its release. So here’s everything we know about Valorant’s console version of the game.
Valorant console release date
Unfortunately, we’re still yet to receive a release date for Valorant’s console version or even full confirmation that the game is definitely going to come out.
What we do know, is that Riot has been working on a console version of the game for a while and are looking to replicate the experience players have on PC. In an interview with US Gamer, Game Director Joe Ziegler confirmed Riot has “teams that are working on it right now.”

However, he also revealed that the development process has not been without its difficulties and challenges: “If we take these concepts and bring them to other platforms, do they even work? Is the game even enjoyable on those platforms?.”
It’s obvious Riot is not satisfied with just porting the game over to consoles. They’re determined to ensure the gameplay experience is as good on console as it is on PC and until that is achieved, the game doesn’t look like it’ll arrive. Although that will be disappointing for some to hear, it does mean when the game eventually launches, it’ll be as good as it possibly can be.
Valorant console platforms
If Riot eventually opts to release Valorant onto consoles, we can safely assume it’ll be available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Whether it comes to the older generation of consoles depends on how long it takes Riot to develop a quality console version of the game.

There’s no doubt expanding the release onto the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One would be great for picking up as many players as possible, but it depends if enough players are still active on those consoles later on down the line.
For now, that’s everything we know about the console version of Valorant and its projected release date. Although it will certainly be disappointing for some that Riot is taking their time expanding the game to other platforms, it’s obvious they want to offer a quality experience for console players.
We’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed that Riot can create a console version of the game that’s just as fun to play as it is on PC. We’ll be sure to update this article with all the latest information, news, and leaks on Valorant’s console version, so stay tuned.
