Valorant, Riot Games’ tactical shooter, has reshaped the FPS genre. With so much success on PC, fans have been wondering when they can expect the team-based shooter to arrive on console – is Valorant coming to Xbox, PlayStation, or the Nintendo Switch?

When it comes to FPS titles, Riot Games’ Valorant shifted the focus from traditional style shooters to a mix of fantasy and tactical play. The only issue with the game, however, is that it’s a PC exclusive.

It’s no surprise that console players are desperate to get in on the action, and fans have been begging for Riot to drop the shooter on Playstation and Xbox since its release.

So here’s everything we know about Valorant’s console version of the game.

Is Valorant coming to Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch?

Despite having been released nearly a year ago the shooter remains Window PC exclusive.

The Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022 shocked everyone by announcing that Riot Games titles were coming to Xbox Game Pass, meaning, Valorant will be coming to Xbox.

As well as getting the opportunity to finally play Valorant on a home console, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also get instant access to all 18 of the game’s agents from the get-go, and there will also be day-one access to any new agents that are inevitably added.

On August 9, 2022, community leaker @valorantleaksEN shared a screenshot of new icons for PlayStation 4 and Xbox controls that Riot had added into Valorant’s game files following the 5.03 update. This leak only further suggests that fans will potentially get to play the shooter on both PlayStation and Xbox in the future.

Regarding the Nintendo Switch, however, both leaks and official information are scarce on whether Valorant will be available on the portable system.

Riot’s main concern is making sure that a console version of Valorant is perfect.

On previously discussing the potential for console ports, Game Director Joe Ziegler revealed that the process has not been without its difficulties and challenges: “If we take these concepts and bring them to other platforms, do they even work? Is the game even enjoyable on those platforms?.”

Its obvious Riot is not satisfied with just porting the game over to consoles. They’re determined to ensure the gameplay experience is as good on console as it is on PC.

For now, that’s everything we know about the console version of Valorant and its projected release date. Although it will certainly be disappointing for some that Riot is taking their time expanding the game to other platforms, it’s obvious they want to offer a quality experience for console players.
