As the genre hints, in the latest title from Endnight Game Limited you must use every tool and skill available to stay alive while also uncovering the secrets of the treacherous place you’re stuck in.

For that, you’ll need to gather as many weapons as possible, and while some—like the Machete—might be easier to acquire, the Chainsaw can be of more use as you can take advantage of its capabilities in your base as well as out in the wild.

What do you need to find the Chainsaw in Sons of the Forest?

The road to finding the Chainsaw is quite tricky, so you’ll need to be prepared for any danger that could come your way. Before starting your quest, make sure you have all the required items:

Carl Planter Maintenance Keycard
Virginia Puffton’s VIP Keycard
Arnold Crand Guest Keycard
A Shovel
A flashlight
A powerful weapon
Plenty of ammunition
Food and water
Medical supplies

Luckily for players, the Guest Keycard is located in the same place as the Chainsaw, so there’s no need for a third Keycard trip. Just make sure you have access to the Maintenance and VIP ones beforehand.

Chainsaw location in Sons of the Forest

The Chainsaw is located in the underground Entertainment Bunker, on the west side of the map, near an abandoned camp. It’s almost at the center point between the snowy mountain and the coast.

The cave’s entrance is near a river and you can recognize it by the abandoned golf cart covered in vines outside.

How to get the Chainsaw in Sons of the Forest

Follow these steps to find the Chainsaw inside the Entertainment Bunker:

First floor

Get inside the cave and follow the path until you reach the bunker’s hallway.
Go all the way down the corridor and take a left.
Keep walking towards the panel with the strong white light.
Take a right and keep walking until you reach a gray locked door.
Use the Maintenance Keycard to open it.
Walk across the gym room and take a left. Keep walking until you go through the reception area and cross the glass door.
Look left and take the stairs up.

Second floor

Walk across the Tree Bar pool room into the Nightclub bar.
Head to the back of the bar, and near the security door you’ll find the bar’s lounge.
Inside the booth with 5 corpses, you’ll find the Arnold Crand Guest Keycard on the corpse lying at the top of the round table.
Go all the way back to the Tree Bar pool room and use the Guest Keycard to open to gray locked door on the left.
Walk across the hallway with the light panels, go down the stairs, and take a left.
Go through the door on the top left corner of the room and keep walking.
You’ll reach a small cinema room. Near the screen and on a yellow puff, you’ll find a corpse with the Chainsaw across its chest.

To leave the Entertainment Bunker go outside the cinema room and look for the security door.

How to use the Chainsaw in Sons of the Forest

The Chainsaw can be used for cutting down trees to harvest logs, as well as to dismember cannibals and other types of enemies in the game.

To equip the Chainsaw you just need to:

Open your inventory.
Search for the Chainsaw on the bottom left corner of your mat.
Select it and equip it with your left mouse button.

However, unlike other tools, the Chainsaw depends on batteries to work, and those are also required for crafting other items such as the valuable Tech Armor, so be smart about how you invest them.

Once you’re out of power you’ll need to recharge the Chainsaw:

Open your inventory.
Use the right mouse button to put the Chainsaw over the crafting mat.
Repeat the previous step but with a pack of batteries.
Use the gear icon on the top right of the crafting area to combine both items and your Chainsaw will be fully charged.
