The sequel to the 2014 survivor horror game ‘The Forest’ is getting more popular by the day, and those who are deep in are trying to get the Golden Armor as it has full protection and lasts forever. To help them out, here’s where to find this special item in Sons of the Forest.

Sons of the Forest is a direct sequel to ‘The Forest‘, one of the most-played survival-horror games on Steam, where you’re stranded on a remote island and must find a missing billionaire while also surviving cannibals.

To stay alive players must craft weapons, build structures, and fight everyone -alone or with friends- in this terrifying open world filled with dangers, including some disgusting Demons. These creatures are hidden inside some hellish caves deep in the forest and the Golden Armor is the only outfit powerful enough to fight them.

The road to acquiring the Golden Armor is not easy or safe, so you’ll need to gather some things to take with you before beginning your search.

A shovel
A flashlight
The rebreather
A powerful weapon (like a shotgun)
Plenty of ammunition

Ideally, you need to also take food, water, medicine, and strong armor to ensure your survival during this process.

Where to find the Golden Armor in Sons of the Forest

The Golden Armor can be found deep in Cave D, near a lake on the southwestern side of the snowy mountain.

Once you reach the area, you can recognize the entrance by the two dead cultists in white robes sitting outside.

Once you’re inside the cave, you’ll see it’s mostly filled with water, so you must equip the rebreather immediately, but worry not, as you’ll find plenty of air tanks along the way as well as open breathing spaces to resurface while getting deeper and deeper inside the cave.

How to find the Golden Armor in Cave D

Follow these steps so you don’t get lost during your long quest:

After your first dive, swim along the tunnel in a straight line until a new area opens up.
Resurface and fight the enemies waiting for you.
Keep going forward and slide down the very long slope into another pool of water.
Continue swimming until you find one more open space with a tunnel.
Go down the tunnel to another area and stay on the right side.
You’ll reach one more tunnel, go through it.
Once you’ve reached a space with golden walls move forward to the next flooded area.
Swim through it and fight the enemies on your way until you reach a part of the cave with golden floors.
Follow the gold to another group of enemies and push through.
You’ll reach a passage with golden columns. At the end of it, you’ll see a drop-off with a rope.
Use the rope to go down and dive once more.
You’ll find a tight underwater tunnel to get through and after that, more enemies.
Stay on the ride side until you reach a golden structure where the Golden Armor sits.

How to get out of Cave D

Instead of going all the way back, you can escape the cave following a shorter route:

Climb the rope on the right side of where the Golden Armor was.
It will take you to another rope and so on. Once you’re done climbing the three ropes, swim through the flooded path until you reach a hall.
Fight the enemies and climb one more rope to get to a tunnel.
Go through it and slide down the slope, you’ll find a golden hallway.
Keep moving forward until the next open area.
There you’ll see an opening that will take you to a waterhole and then to the cave exit.

What is the Golden Armor in Sons of the Forest used for?

The Golden Armor is a special outfit that offers the player a full armor protection bar instead of the segmented one, and unlike other gear, this one is permanent. It doesn’t break during combat and can last forever.

This set has a unique effect that reduces damage taken from Demons by 70%. However, its use is only recommended for those particular fights inside caves, as the Golden Armor is not very strong against other types of enemies.

If you’re about to face a horde of cannibals, better get something bulkier, as the Golden Armor will only provide 30% damage resistance against them.

Additionally, once you reach the magma caverns within the eastern bunker, you can use the armor as a key to open the gate.
