When it was first added, first impressions of the RAM-9 were that it was powerful but difficult to control. However, this loadout transforms the meta SMG into not just a viable option, but something that is top-tier with it being one of the most used guns in Season 3.

- Barrel: Boreal-6C Suppressed Barrel

Given the RAM-9’s intense recoil, you’ll want to use attachments that reduce the SMG’s vertical kick. The two most impactful that don’t slow down key handling stats are the Hunker-5 Stock Pad and Retort 90 Grip Tape. This combination also provides a boost to Firing Aim Stability which makes it much easier to keep shots on target.
The Boreal-6C Suppressed Barrel is another fantastic attachment with it not only suppressing the RAM-9 but also improving Aim Walking Speed, Sprint to Fire Speed, Bullet Velocity, and Damage Range. These are all meta stats that benefit the fast-paced gameplay that an SMG like the RAM-9 needs to fulfill its potential.
Why stop there though? The RAM-9’s handling can be further improved by equipping the DR-6 Handstop which improves just about every notable mobility and handling stat. Most crucial of all is the boost to Aim Walking Speed and ADS Speed which make the SMG feel really nice to use.
Finally, a close-range optic like the MORS Dot Sight is a great option as the RAM-9’s iron sights can be awkward to use at times. There are a lot of good optics these days but this new reticle added in MW3 Season 3 is the easiest to use on a close-range weapon like the RAM-9.

Ever since it was added in Season 1, the Assassin Vest has remained a top-tier perk making you immune to enemy UAVs both while moving and stationary. This is even more powerful than Ghost T/V Camo which only works activates when on the move.
Speaking of stealth, the Covert Sneakers are easily the best boots in MW3. When equipped, they remove all footstep audio letting you sprint around freely without being heard. This is great with MW3’s Assassin Vest and Boreal-6C Suppressed Barrel which make flanking with the RAM-9 extremely effective.
With the Assasin Vest, you don’t need to use the gear slot on the Ghost T/V Camo. Instead, it’s best to use the Bone Conduction Headset to amplify enemy footsteps making them easier to hear. The last Perk to equip is Assault Gloves which improve the effectiveness of jumpshots, providing another valuable tool to win duels up close.
With only one equipment slot and no Field Upgrade available when using the Assassin Vest, the rest of this RAM-9 loadout is self-explanatory. Finish up by equipping a Flash Grenade to blind enemies. This will leave them feeling hopeless and unable to fight back resulting in easy kills.
How to unlock RAM-9 in Modern Warfare 3
The RAM-9 is unlocked through the Armory, accessible at level 25. After activating the RAM-9 in MW3’s Armory, either complete 3 daily challenges or win 3 multiplayer matches to obtain the SMG. Alternatively, the RAM-9 can be acquired in Zombies by successfully extracting with one.
Best RAM-9 alternative in Modern Warfare 3
The WSP Swarm is another SMG in MW3 that has a great TTK up close but doesn’t quite have the damage range of the RAM-9. Even if it isn’t versatile, the WSP Swarm is incredible as long as you can only take close-range duels.
