There are a lot of great creatures you can collect in Palworld but you may be wondering how to change the name of your new Pals in the game. Here’s everything you need to know about renaming pals in the new monster-taming title.

Palworld is the latest creature collecting game to have taken Steam by storm. This open-world game from PocketPair delivers a darker twist on the beloved genre by tasking players with surviving a hostile environment and allowing their adorable furry friends to wield all kinds of weapons including guns.

The early access version of Palworld that’s currently available on PC and Xbox consoles has 100 Pals to find, catch, and battle with. As well as all the traditional monster-taming elements, your Pals can also assist you in various ways such as heating food, and mining for resources.

You may want to give your Pals a more unique identity in the game, however, and that’s where renaming them comes in. So, here’s exactly how you can change your Pals name in Palworld.

How to change Pal names in Palworld

To change the name of your Pals in the game, simply follow the steps below:

  • Open the options menu
  • Navigate to the Party tab
  • Choose the Pal who’s name you’d like to change
  • Once the individual Pal menu opens, you’ll have the option to edit their name by pressing the Edit button next to their original name.

It’s worth noting that at the time of writing the option to rename Pals doesn’t appear to be available on the Xbox Game Pass version of Palworld as it’s an earlier edition of the game compared to the Steam release.

You may have to level up your Pals slightly before the option to edit their name appears, so if you’ve just caught a Pal and can’t change its name straight away, try the method again once it’s gained a few levels.

The new name you give your Pal can have up to 24 characters, and there’s no limit to how many times you can change their names in the game. This function is a great way to add some unique elements to your personal playthrough of Palworld, whether you’re giving your Pals funny nicknames or you want to keep track of their jobs more easily by renaming them something related to their role.
