Cult classic movie Sharknado hits its 10 year anniversary, and thus a special Sharknado event is heading our way.

When it comes to infamously bad movies, look no further than Sharknado. This horror action comedy cult classic has delighted and disturbed audiences for the past decade, and now this 10 year anniversary is being celebrated.

The $1 million film stars Tara Reid, Ian Ziering, and John Heard, as they battle a tornado that sucks up sharks and spits them out over Los Angeles. After becoming a unexpected hit on the SyFy Channel, Sharknado spawned a low-budget franchise, including five sequels and a Las Vegas musical, cementing production company The Asylum’s name in the B-movie hall of fame.

And now for the first time ever, Sharknado is heading to cinemas for a special anniversary event. So here’s everything you need to know about it.

When is Sharknado being released in cinemas?

Sharknado will appear in cinemas on August 15 and 16, 2023, for an exclusive two day event.

A fully remastered version of Sharknado will release in theatres in the US, and will reportedly feature hundreds of new special effects, along with “new kills” and “new thrills.”

As can be seen above, the movie has even banked on the style of Barbie to promote the event. This follows the classic “mockbuster” style of the Sharknado franchise, and was released exclusively by The Hollywood Reporter, though we doubt Mattel gave permission.

A new trailer has also been released, which proudly states that the re-release will have “More sharks, more ‘nado.” So check out the trailer for the cinematic event below, and get hyped:
