Esport caster has “weird Blizzcon experience” as photo is taken in toilets
Awkward encounters at gaming conventions are nothing new, however one disturbing experience ahead of BlizzCon 2019 had Overwatch League analyst Josh ‘Sideshow’ Wilkinson feeling particularly unsettled.
Just days out from BlizzCon 2019, production is well underway to ensure that the Overwatch World Cup goes off without a hitch.
Unfortunately, despite preparations having only just begun, OWL analyst Sideshow already had an extremely unsettling experience in his hotel bathroom.
In an October 30 Tweet, having made his way to California ahead of the annual convention, Sideshow explained how he was using a hotel bathroom since his room wasn’t yet available.
Going about his business, the analyst was rudely interrupted as “some dude walked in, put his phone over the stall and took a photo.”
Already had a super weird Blizzcon experience…
Was taking a shit in the hotel toilets because my room isn’t ready, and some dude walked in, put his phone over the stall and took a photo of me, then ran away
what the fuck people
no

“What the f*ck people, no,” he added, obviously uncomfortable about the encounter.
“Don’t think he knew who I was,” Sideshow continued, and added that he didn’t think the act was targeted. “(He must have) just decided to take a photo or use his phone to see if someone was in there. Still super weird.”

Despite the severity of the situation, many in the Overwatch community referred back to Dr Disrespect’s recent E3 incident which saw him temporarily banned from Twitch after livestreaming from inside a public bathroom.
The recently announced Head Coach for the Houston Outlaws, Harsha Bandi joked that fellow Overwatch League analyst Brennon ‘Bren’ Hook was the culprit, perhaps trying to alleviate the situation a little bit.
@BrenCasts not cool

While Bren and Sideshow often joke and argue in front of tens of thousands throughout the Overwatch League broadcasts, this incident was undeniably a severe violation of personal space and comfort, and should be treated as such.
Sideshow was contacted ahead of publication, but declined to comment on the situation.
