Beauty YouTuber Jeffree Star has responded to rumors that he and boyfriend Nathan Schwandt have split, revealing they have indeed broken up, and explained why.

Rumors first began after Star removed ‘wifey of Nathan’ from his Instagram bio around December 7, and also canceled European tour dates. His masterclass co-host MMMMitchell also helped stoke the rumors by saying “I’m upset because my friend’s upset.”

Then, on January 9, the rumors snowballed even more, as Jeffree Star tweeted “Dear god please stop the pain.” Some fans even became concerned for both his physical and mental wellbeing. Now, on January 11, the makeup mogul has confirmed their breakup.

In a 17-minute YouTube video titled “We Broke Up,” Star explained why the pair came to the decision to end their five-year relationship. This came just weeks after the couple moved into a $14.6 million mansion in Hidden Hills, California.

He started off by stating that they both still care for each other deeply, but that it just wasn’t meant to be. “I just want to put on record that Nathan is the only man that I have ever been in love with. It’s hard because Nathan never wanted to be in the spotlight,” he said. “We fell for each other when we met, and we fell for each other so hard, and I’m grateful for him, and I’ll be grateful for him until the day I die because this is the only man that was ever confident enough to love me publicly, to love me for me fully. He changed my world.”

The 34-year-old then revealed that family members had tried to spread gossip and false stories through the media. “It really kills me to say, but we’ve had family try to reach out to the media to try and make money off of mine and Nathan’s breakup. I don’t even know how to process that,” he said. “We’re over here heartbroken dealing with our emotions, dealing with things behind the scenes, and there’s family trying to tell the media fake stories to get money out of it. There’s people I haven’t spoken to in years trying to talk about us. It’s been a lot.”

The YouTuber then went on to state that the pair’s mental health played a part in the reasons behind their breakup, citing Nathan losing his grandfather and the couple losing two of their beloved dogs. “There’s no crazy gossip, there’s no tea, this is actually really important and I don’t think enough celebrities and influencers talk about it, and that’s mental health,” he said.

“A few years ago, Nathan lost his grandfather in a very tragic way… We lost two dogs last year… We still haven’t even fully processed that. He hasn’t fully processed his grandfather. We haven’t even fully processed our dogs fully because this lifestyle is so crazy,” he continued. “Me and him have never sat down and full processed our emotions, we’re both broken. We were both so busy being there for each other, that we forgot to be there for ourselves.”

Star finished by stating that he’ll always have love his ex-boyfriend, but that they fell out of love with each other. “He met me when I had nothing, and he never changed, and that’s what I love the most, he stayed true to who he was,” he said. “Nate came over the other day and visited the dogs and it was so beautiful. There’s no custody battle, he can come over here whenever he wants… I think there’s a lot of things behind closed doors that people never know.”

Instagram: @jeffreestarThe pair dated for around five years before breaking up in December 2019.

Jeffree and Nathan began their relationship in 2014, and first met when the 26-year-old slid into the makeup star’s Instagram DMs. “We started talking online, we started texting, and then texting led to phone calls and FaceTime,” Star revealed in a 2016 video. “Then we decided a few months later to meet in person.”

The musician-turned-YouTuber has seen enormous success with his makeup line Jeffree Star Cosmetics, and is one of the top beauty gurus on the Google-owned platform with over 17 million subscribers.

Dixie D’Amelio’s fans think her latest song, ‘One Whole Day,’ is a diss track aimed at her ex-boyfriend, Griffin Johnson, but she claimed it isn’t and explained what it’s really about.

Dixie D’Amelio rocked the world with the release of her latest song, ‘One Whole Day.’ The lyrics tell how she had a falling out with a boyfriend but was only sad for one whole day and shed a single tear.

Her fans assume the song is about her break up with Griffin Johnson and think it’s her way of throwing him some shade. However, Dixie D’Amelio recently answered some questions about the song on YouTube, and she explained that it’s not a diss track.

“Being sad is not what the song is about,” she said, without mentioning Griffin Johnson’s name. “The song is basically about how I am only going to be sad for one day from a breakup.”

“When you are treated in a way where you’re not number one or a number one priority or shown true care and love and affection more than anyone else, there’s no point in being upset about it for more than one day,” she added.

It’s reasonable to assume this might have been an issue in Dixie D’Amelio’s relationship with Griffin Johnson. Either way, the point is, it’s more about the personal realization she had rather than the break-up itself.

Dixie D’Amelio and Griffin Johnson were together for a while, but things didn’t work out.

“The song does mean a lot to me because I’ve spent a lot of my life being upset about things for too long,” she said. “If a person… cannot treat me with respect… then I don’t want them in my life, and I will not be upset about it for more than one whole day.”

“That’s kind of my idea of the song. It’s not a diss in any way. It’s… showing self-love… to myself,” she added. “It’s important to love yourself. It’s important to know you’re worth, so that’s… what it’s all about.”

Segment begins at 1:30.

‘One Whole Day’ might refer to some of the experiences and feelings Dixie D’Amelio had during her break-up with Griffin Johnson, but it’s not intended to be a diss track in any way, shape, or form.

The song’s meaning runs much deeper than that. It’s about feeling a sense of self-love and self-worth during a break-up, no matter how sad it can be in the short-term.
