Spider-Man 4 rumored to have Kingpin as villain

A new Spider-Man 4 report claims the film will pit Tom Holland’s webslinger against Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin.

A fourth solo outing headed up Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man has officially been in the works since 2021. Progress on the movie hasn’t exactly moved with the proportionate speed of a spider, though, and Holland has even hinted it may fall apart entirely.

That said, the English actor generally skews optimistic about Spider-Man 4’s chances, confirming in mid-2023 that the production was gradually picking up pace before the Hollywood strikes hit. This tracks with previous comments by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, who confirmed the sequel’s story is already locked down.

Feige didn’t elaborate further on what said story may entail, although it will presumably see Parker building a new life following the events of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Spider-Man 4 rumored to have Kingpin as villain

Ol’ Pete will have more to contend with than just making friends and finding work, though. According to a recent report by scooper Daniel Richtman (via X/Twitter), he’ll go head-to-head with none other than Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Spider-Man 4.

Richtman further alleges that Marvel Studios hasn’t met with actor Vincent D’Onofrio about reprising the Kingpin role yet, despite the supervillain’s inclusion in Spider-Man 4’s script. Neither Marvel nor D’Onofrio have publicly commented on Richtman’s report at this stage.

However, Kingpin’s supposed inclusion in Spider-Man 4 does line up with various rumblings surrounding the production. Notably, D’Onofrio himself has openly expressed interest in seeing a showdown between his character and Holland’s, insisting it will “eventually” happen.

The online rumor mill also continues to link Kingpin to Spider-Man 4, potentially as one of several antagonists Spidey must defeat. There’s considerable buzz around the possibility of Charlie Cox showing up to even the odds as Kingpin’s nemesis, Daredevil, too.

Kingpin sets his sights on New York City’s top job

Recent MCU miniseries Echo seemingly supports a future Spider-Man/Kingpin confrontation, as well. That show’s finale hints that Fisk will run for Mayor of New York City in follow-up show Daredevil: Born Again.

Should this mayoral campaign prove successful, there would be obvious implications for all NYC-based heroes, including Spidey. Mayor Fisk could even emulate his comic book counterpart and outlaw costumed vigilantes in the Big Apple – a surefire way to earn him the wall-crawler’s attention!
