Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is in the works, so here is everything we know about the sequel ahead of its release.

After years of waiting, the Five Nights At Freddy’s film finally arrived in theatres in 2023. While the movie was met with mixed reviews, it still managed to bring in a solid sum at the box office.

Many praised the animatronics that were specifically designed for the movie and enjoyed the Easter eggs and references to the games. Despite its success at the box office, a sequel is yet to be given the green light.

And while little is known about Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, we can confirm that the sequel is planning to go into development soon. With that being said, here is everything you need to know about Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 ahead of its eventual release.

Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 release predictions:

Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 cast: Who will be in the film?

While no cast has been confirmed for the sequel, leading actor Josh Hutcherson has been vocal about his desire to return and has even provided updates about the sequel. Given his close contact with the creative team behind the FNAF movie, there is a strong chance Hutcherson will return for the sequel.

As well as this, Matthew Lillard is “hopeful” he will come back for FNAF 2, albeit in a different capacity than his role in the original.

When asked what he would want to see for a sequel, Lillard expressed that is open for any and everything the director throws his way, even if it does mean him hiding behind a mask as Springtrap.

“For me as an actor, in terms of Afton, I mean, it’ll be interesting. Now with Springtrap, is he in the mask the whole time? Does he do flashback sequences? I don’t know what that is, quite frankly.”

Five Nights At Freddy 2 plot: What will the sequel be about?

While the ending of the first FNAF movie does tie most things up, it well and truly leaves the door open for a sequel. To recap the ending of FNAF, Vanessa reveals that her dad used to work at the pizzeria as a yellow rabbit, which is a motif seen on the derelict walls in the restaurant in children’s drawings, as well as being something the dream children talk about.

Vanessa’s dad was a man named William Afton, who snatched the five children and put them where nobody would think to look – inside the animatronics themselves.

Not only was Afton also responsible for taking Mike’s brother Garrett, but he’s also the same person as Steve Raglan, the careers expert from earlier on. While Mike has been out, a defunct version of Freddy goes to collect Abby at the house, killing Aunt Jane in the process.

When they get back to the restaurant, the animatronics turn on her, each trying to kill her. Mike races back to the restaurant, tasers in hand, just in time to stall the bulk of the dolls before the yellow rabbit arrives.

The child version of Freddy is seen back at the restaurant, watching the slow death of Afton in the rabbit costume, which fans will know as being the character Springtrap.
