Dune 2 star Austin Butler has revealed some behind-the-scenes information about one of his most shocking moments.

To say that Dune: Part Two — the follow-up sequel to the 2021 sci-fi — has exceeded audience and critics’ expectations is a bit of an understatement.

The movie has received nothing but high praise since it first premiered, so much in fact that fans are already clamoring for a Part 3.

There’s a ton of shocking moments within the film and now fans have a bit more context around one of them that includes the film’s breakout star, Austin Butler.

Butler breaks down his onscreen kiss

The actor took some time to chat with Access Hollywood on the red carpet before the premiere of the highly anticipated sequel.

While discussing his role in the film, the outlet asked Butler about his shocking and improvised kiss with Stellan Skarsgård, who plays his uncle Vladimir Harkonnen in the film.

Butler explained that the kiss occurred because Skarsgård was “game for anything” and how the choice came to be because acting is “all about how you can affect someone.”

Butler has been praised since the film was released to the media as one of the best parts of the Dune sequel.

His character, Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, is like no other character Butler has played before as Feyd-Rautha is a sadistic, unrelenting psychopath who will stop at nothing to usurp the throne and become the new emperor.
