Fortnite Season 7 Week 8 challenges and how to complete them

Ross Deason

Week 8 of Season 7 in Fortnite Battle Royale is upon us and the Week 8 challenges went live on Thursday, January 24, on PC, PS4, Xbox One and all other platforms. Here’s everything you need to know about this week’s challenges and how to complete them.

Week 8 will once again challenge players to complete a total of seven challenges. Three of these are be free-to-play and the remaining four are exclusive to owners of the Season 7 Battle Pass.

The official Week 8 challenges only went live at 14:00 GMT (09:00 EST, 06:00 PST) but a number of leaks from data miners had given us a pretty good idea of what to expect ahead of time. If the leaks proved to be fairly accurate, and the Week 8 challenges could well be some of the easiest we’ve seen all season.

The developers of Fortnite, Epic Games, have been known to switch or edit some challenges by the time they go live in the past, so we were half expecting some of the leaks to not make the final cut. However, the only changes were to the wording and order of a few:

As we mentioned above, the leaked challenges look like they will be pretty straightforward. There is only one ‘stage’ challenge, which is unusual in recent weeks and months. On the plus side, the treasure hunt for a Battle Star has returned.

As we said, there are a few changes in wording and order, so the official list of challenges for Week 8, Season 7 of Fortnite Battle Royale is now as follows:

Free Challenges

Battle Pass Challenges

  • Stage 1: Visit Paradise Palms and Salty Springs in a single match (1)
Stage 2: Visit Junk Junction and Loot Lake in a single match (1)
Stage 3: Visit Haunted Hills and Wailing Woods in a single match (1)
  • Search chests at Shifty Shafts or Lonely Lodge (7)
  • Deal damage to opponents whilst riding on a vehicle (100)
  • Explosive Weapon Eliminations (HARD) (3)

How to complete the Season 7, Week 8 Fortnite challenges

We’re now deep into the second half of Season 7.

Week 8 Snowfall challenge

The ongoing Snowfall challenge is back for Week 8 of Season 7. This week, you’ll be looking for a hidden Banner rather than a secret Battle Star.

Once you’ve completed all seven of the standard challenges for the week, check out our step-by-step guide on how to find the secret Fortnite Banner for Week 8, Season 7.

Place a Cozy Campfire or a Launch Pad in different matches

Potentially the easiest challenge in history, it looks like all you need to do to complete this one is place a Cozy Campfire or a Launch Pad in three different matches.

It shouldn’t be difficult in the slightest to complete this before the end of the week, just use either item as soon as you find one if you’re in any kind of hurry.

Build Structures

We’ll be pretty surprised if this challenge ends up being included without any changes. If it DOES remain the same, just farm up materials and build walls, stairs and more like you would in any normal game of Fortnite.

Once you’ve placed a total of 250 structures, the task will be complete.

Search between a mysterious hatch, a giant rock lady, and a precarious flatbed

One of the classic Fortnite challenges, searching for a hidden Battle Star using cryptic clues, finally returns for Week 8 of Season 7.

If you’re struggling, check out our ‘Search between a mysterious hatch, a giant rock lady and a precarious flatbed’ location and challenge guide for a full walk through.

An ATK could be the perfect vehicle for the dealing damage from a passenger seat challenge.

Stage 1: Visit Paradise Palms and Salty Springs in a single match

The only reported stage challenge for Week 8 will involve visiting two different locations in match. We’re expecting three stages in total and you’ll need to complete them in this order:

  1. Visit Paradise Palms and Salty Springs in a single match
  2. Visit Junk Junction and Loot Lake in a single match
  3. Visit Haunted Hills and Wailing Woods in a single match

Search chests at Shifty Shafts or Lonely Lodge

This is another straightforward challenge, you just need to open a total of seven chests in Lonely Lodge and Shifty Shafts. As always, you can open all seven in one location or split them between the two.

If you’re in a hurry, land at one of the locations straight away. You’re almost guaranteed to find one or two chests for free each time.

Deal damage while riding in a vehicle

We initially thought you’d need to play Duos or Squads matches to complete this one as the leaks specified that you had to be a passenger. The finaly wording suggests that this won’t be the case and that riding in a vehicle and dealing out damage is the only requirement.

Either way, it’s going to be easier with a teammate: find a suitable vehicle, get your teammate to jump in and drive while you take shots at enemies. You need to deal a total of 100 damage to complete the challenge, but it’s currently uncertain whether this needs to be dealt in one game or not.

Eliminate three opponents with an Explosive weapon

This is a pretty straightforward challenge – simply eliminate a total of three players with a weapon that falls into the ‘Explosive’ class. You don’t need to kill all three in one match, so completing the challenge over the course of the week shouldn’t be too difficult.

We’d advise using a powerful explosive like the Rocket Launcher. The Quad Launcher was vaulted in the v7.20 Content Update on January 22, so don’t expect to find one of those!
