Ben ‘DrLupo’ Lupo is one of the most popular streamers on the planet but the likable gamer has revealed that he sometimes wonders whether he wasn’t meant to get to where he has.

DrLupo saw his popularity skyrocket in 2018 as he became one of the main faces of Fortnite Battle Royale – the game that has taken the world by storm since its release in September of 2017.

Now the 31-year-old is within the top 15 most followed streamers on Twitch with almost 2.5 million followers to his name as well as a million subscribers on YouTube.

But with that many fans there will, of course, by some people that get a kick out of trolling or insulting him. The trolls he can deal with, he says, but there are some criticisms that get to him.

“Sorry I let shit get to me sometimes. I’m pretty sensitive, and I often times take things to heart when well spoken people state negative opinions about me or my channel,” he said in a recent Twitter statement. “Ignoring trolls is easy, don’t worry. I mean real opinions.”

He went on to explain that “Getting ripped into gets old,” and even said that he sometimes questions whether he is cut out for the life of a super-successful streamer: “I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – maybe I wasn’t meant for popularity.”

He concluded by saying that he understands “why some people get burnt out,” before saying that he’s fine and will probably feel better after a good night’s sleep.

Streamer’s getting “burnt out” is a common occurrence and one that many struggle with at one point or another, especially when dealing with constant criticism, but the response to DrLupo questioning whether he was meant for popularity was met with a resounding “YOU ARE” by the streaming and gaming community.

TSM’s Daequan, FaZe Clan’s Nate Hill and Call of Duty pro James ‘Replays’ Crowder all weighed in on the subject, reminding DrLupo that he is “inspiring” and “one of the most genuine people” in the entire scene.
