David Dobrik explains why he has to chew gum while talking

YouTuber David Dobrik doesn’t do anything by halves, and the same goes for his quirks. It turns out the vlogger has a special place in his heart for chewing gum.

In an interview with GQ on Wednesday, Dobrik revealed the ten things he can’t live without and one of those things included gum, and not just because he likes it. 

Dobrik explained that he doesn’t feel like he can talk to people without chewing gum at the same time. 

He said: “Gum is super important to me, I have a drawer just dedicated to gum. I can’t have conversations with people without chewing gum, like I hate being close to people. Now, I’m a little more lenient on not chewing gum because of the face mask so I don’t feel like I’m spewing my breath at people.

“…It’s not that I don’t brush my teeth, I do, but I just like after I brush it you still need something in there that’s still working at the same time you’re talking.”

Among David’s list of important things he also added in his Suave kids’ 3-in-1 shampoo, conditioner, and body wash that he still uses, and has used since he was a child. 

He also broke out his “Elon Musk not a flame-thrower,” describing it as “perfect for when you hate your neighbors,” and his mini remote-control Tesla he got for referring friends to buy a car from the company. 

Dobrik also admitted to drinking around five liters of water a day, and that he prefers it room temperature or even warm, saying, “if it’s sitting in the garage on a hot day that’s all me, it has my name on it.”

Of course, David couldn’t go without passing mention for his assistant Natalie, who retold the story of how they went to a dance together in high school but never actually dated. Natalie recently confirmed that she is dating Vlog Squad member Todd Smith on Dobrik’s Views podcast.
