Apex Legends fan creates terrifying ‘strangler’ Legend to haunt games

One Apex Legends player has designed perhaps the most horrifying character to date, a venomous strangler that looks to haunt its prey on the battlefield.

Respawn’s popular battle royale has seen its fair share of spooky additions over the seasons, from Halloween-themed cosmetics to intimidating robo-assassin Revenant. However, a new concept takes the fright to an entirely new level.

Going by a label of ‘The Adder,’ this robotic Legend could be haunting your games in the future. Not only is the artwork on point, but the concept comes with a fully loaded arsenal of equally scary abilities.

Move over Revenant, The Adder could soon be the most nightmare-inducing character in Apex Legends.

The Adder drops into battle with a brand new model not bearing any resemblance to the current Apex cast. The character looks to have a metallic head with robotic appendages all attached to a snake-like “body.”

These appendages could even have a mind of their own. “The Adder’s Constrictor arm almost appears to be a sentient thing… maybe it is,” the flavor text reads.

The snake wraps around the body, connecting to the back of The Adder’s head. It appears to be the source of much of its venomous power as a bright blue poison stains its fang-like mask.

A set of teeth hang around the character’s torso, each dipped in a unique poison that can come into play with its abilities.

The Adder in all its glory.

A powerful passive ability imposes a truly unique threat to nearby enemies. Opposing teams within a certain distance will “begin to hear a rattlesnake sound.”

This audio is capable of drowning out other noises, but will not give off any indication as to the exact position of The Adder.

Virulent Venoms is the name of the tactical ability. This provides the character with a number of unique ‘toxins with varying effects.”

One example would decrease healing from all sources once enemies are tagged, but the tradeoff comes with a more limited fire rate.

Even these Halloween-themed cosmetics are no match for The Adder’s fright.

If enemies try to flee from the terrifying rattlesnake sound, The Adder’s Ultimate can bring them right back into the fight.

“Grab an enemy, bring them in close, and strangle them with your constrictor arm,” the designer outlined.

There’s no telling just how much damage this ult would deal, nor how long the effect might last. However, it would certainly change up the flow of any teamfight if players are restricted and unable to break free from The Adder without assistance.

From the visuals to the abilities, it’s clear every detail of this character concept has been given a great deal of thought — now the creator will just have to hope Respawn takes a glance at the game’s subreddit, and maybe get inspired.

The Adder isn’t the first community-created Legend either. Players have also put forth ideas of ability stealing characters, and even a Legend with a ‘hover-kit.’

Apex Legends dev confirms Pathfinder grapple change coming in Season 7

An Apex Legends dev has confirmed that Pathfinder’s grapple cooldown is set to undergo a change once the Season 7 patch drops.

As the Apex Legends seasons have unfolded, Respawn Entertainment have made changes to each character – be it to make them a more viable option to use, or to bring them back down to earth because they’re too powerful.

These changes typically come at the start of a new season, but when something seems out of place – like Pathfinder’s long grapple cooldown that has caused the pick rate of the typically extremely popular character to dip quite a bit.

With Season 6 drawing to a close, a change for the cooldown on Pathfinder’s grapple has been the biggest talking point after it was changed from the typical 15 seconds to around 40 seconds.

Pathfinder mains have been begging for a change to his grapple cooldown.

Players have begged Respawn for changes for some time, but with Season 6 drawing to a close, they’ll have to wait until the new season for a change.

Responding to fan questions on Reddit, Apex Legends dev Daniel Klein confirmed that Pathfinder’s cooldown is in the works. “This patch!” Klein said, responding to a question about changes to the cooldown. “To be clear, that’s the Season 7 patch, coming soon.”

While Klein has given lengthy answers in the past about changes coming to Apex, he didn’t add anything else to his Pathfinder answers, instead, moving to answer questions about other changes as well as detailing why wall-running wouldn’t work in Apex.

On top of the change to Pathfinder, Klein also confirmed that Octane is set for a “tiny buff” with the start of Season 7. Though, he did not hint at what the change to the adrenaline junkie would be.

However, there isn’t all that long left in terms of a wait to see what Respawn has in store with Season 7. Unless there is a last-minute delay or change, the new patch is set to drop on November 4.
