Starfield Thomas the Tank Engine

Starfield fans are a creative bunch and as if the astonishing ship-builder creations we’ve already seen weren’t enough, this latest one is literally off the rails. Thomas the Tank Engine is back in a Bethesda game.

Starfield’s full release is only in its infancy and already the game is Bethesda’s most successful launch in history. The title has been racking up numbers including over 6 million total players, more than 1 million concurrent players, and the top spot on Twitch.

Players have been finding hilarious ways to break the game including basket-based theft. Modders have gotten in on the action too allowing the community to collect achievements despite having mods active.

One staple of Bethesda games that usually requires mods is a curious need to add beloved children’s character Thomas the Tank Engine. Not so in Starfield thanks to the ship-builder. Reddit user u/MrCaine332 has proven even console players can join in on the fun.

Thomas has a colorful history in Bethesda games with the most famous instance being a Skyrim mod that replaces dragons with the beloved locomotive. He even had a stint in FromSoftware’s Elden Ring where the Tree Sentinel used the ruthless rail carriage as a mount.

u/MrCaine332’s iteration of the titular tank engine doesn’t require any modding capability whatsoever though. Just the right ship parts and a bit of creative flair.

While Thomas the Tank Engine is often credited as a very useful engine in the television series that made him famous, we’ve yet to see this Thomas in combat. That hasn’t stopped fans in the Reddit thread from gushing over their hilarious addition to Starfield.

“This might be the best ship build I’ve seen yet and that includes the meta-builds,” one user claimed. “Truly a masterpiece.”

It’s impressive I guess, but how many potatoes can you fit in it?

Why gamers feel the need to add Thomas the Tank Engine to every game that will let them is a question for the scholars. We’re super glad for the laughs this instance provided though.

Of course, Thomas isn’t the only fantastic fan creation given to us by Starfield’s ship-builder. We’ve seen recreations from Star Wars, Batman, and Futurama as well.
