The Bear Season 3 will be released this summer — here’s everything we know, from its release window to cast details, plot speculation and more.

Kitchen dramas were all the rage in Hollywood for a short while. Vicious hierarchies, scathing insults, and high-pressure settings made audiences hungry for more. But of all the shows on the menu, there’s been none more beloved than the tale of a dysfunctional family-run restaurant in Chicago.

The Bear, which first arrived on Hulu in 2022, has since grown in popularity and earned some of the biggest praise around. When it comes to culinary dramas, it’s one of the best TV shows around. Now, with Emmy Awards and Golden Globes under its name, fans have their eyes firmly peeled for the upcoming Season 3.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new season, from updates on The Bear cast to its sumemr release and more. Bon appetit!

Does The Bear Season 3 have a release date?

The Bear Season 3 will arrive in June 2024, most likely towards the end of the month to match the release schedule of the previous two seasons.

Season 1 and Season 2 landed on the streaming service on the 23rd and 22nd of June respectively, so it’s expected that Season 3 will follow the same pattern.

If that weren’t exciting enough, the show will continue its previous pattern of dropping all episodes on Hulu on the same date. This news was shared by FX chairman John Landgraf at the TCA Winter Tour on February 9, who explained [via Decider]: “We all watched the first season and it wasn’t lost on me or anyone else who worked on the show that it’s a little anxiety inducing to watch that show.

“So we made a decision that we would drop the whole thing because for those of you who saw it, it has a really beautiful, very uplifting ending.”

Landgraf added: “The way that Chris [Storer] makes it, even though the episodes are separate, there’s a whole vibe to every season so we decided not to change what we had already set in motion and I have no doubt that we’ll keep doing it because we did it in the past. Even if we could, I don’t think we’d change it now.”

Production on Season 3 officially kicked off on February 26, with filming commencing in Evanston, Illinois. With filming permits valid only for a week in this location, there’s no doubt the cast and crew will be traveling plenty across the United States—and perhaps globally again like we saw in Season 2—in order to bring the third chapter to life.

Good news — on March 14, a source revealed to Variety that there would also be a Season 4 of The Bear, and that it would film back-to-back with Season 3! However, FX hasn’t confirmed anything, so take this with a pinch of salt. That said, if this is true, then whatever goes down in Season 3 will be laying the groundwork for a whole other installment.

The Bear Season 3 cast: Who’ll be in it?

The Bear Season 3 will see the return of Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach to return as the leading trio of the show: Carmy, Sydney, and Richie.

The rest of the team at The Original Beef of Chicagoland (as it’s now formally known) should also be returning to hopefully maintain the restaurant’s newfound success. The expected cast list includes:

  • Jeremy Allen White as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto
  • Ayo Edebiri as Sydney Adamu
  • Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richard “Richie” Jerimovich
  • Abby Elliott as Natalie “Sugar” Berzatto
  • Lionel Boyce as Marcus
  • Liza Colón-Zayas as Tina
  • Matty Matheson as Neil Fak
  • Edwin Lee Gibson as Ebraheim
  • Oliver Platt as Uncle Jimmy
  • Chris Witaske as Pete

The big question mark hangs over the guest stars following Season 2’s incredible lineup: Molly Gordon as Carmy’s love interest Claire, Jamie Lee Curtis as Carmy’s mother Donna, Jon Bernthal as Mikey, Sarah Paulson as Cousin Michelle, John Mulaney as Stevie, Bob Odenkirk as Uncle Lee, Will Poulter as Luca, Olivia Colman as Chef Terry, and Gillian Jacobs as Richie’s ex-wife, Tiff.

Here are five guest stars we’d love to see in The Bear Season 3 cast.

Ayo Edebiri will also be making her directorial debut with an episode in the upcoming season! Though it’s yet to be confirmed which episode she’ll be directing exactly, we can be sure that, given her comedy background, it’ll probably be one of the funnier episodes in the slate.

The Bear Season 3 plot: What will it be about?

Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger following the frantic events of opening night — Season 3 should follow-up on this, focusing on Carmy’s fallout with Claire, the aftermath of Marcus’ missed call from his mother’s nurse, and the continued mission to make The Bear a profitable establishment.

The Bear’s opening night goes so well; everyone loves the food, and Sydney’s father finally believes that this is “the thing.” Richie seems like he’s found his home and a sense of authority that isn’t fragile or manufactured for the sake of his own ego. Tina is a fabulous, confident sous-chef, Ebraheim is perfect for the takeaway window station, and Uncle Jimmy’s financial prospects are looking up.

Then, things that could go wrong, go very wrong: Carmy gets locked in the walk-in fridge and ends up speaking his mind a little too loudly, essentially confessing to Claire that he doesn’t want to spend time on “enjoyment and amusement” with her. While they’re definitely split up for now, we don’t know if there are any plans to reconcile their love for each other down the line.

Marcus is the biggest worry: as he relished The Bear’s success, he wasn’t paying attention to his phone… which was full of texts from his mother’s carer. Based on a particular filming location for the new season, one has to assume that she’s passed away while he’s been pursuing his passion, which will no doubt fuel his guilt in the next season.

When asked about the third season prior to filming, White said [via Variety]: “We all did a lot of preparation before the first season. I went to culinary school and I spent a lot of time in restaurants and stuff. And then, for the second season, so much of it was about putting the restaurant together, so there wasn’t that much cooking. But now, in the third season, I think we’re going to go back to that functioning kitchen atmosphere that we had in the first.”

The implication seems to be that in Season 3 The Bear will be looking to cement itself as one of the best restaurants in Chicago. Carmy, Sydney, and the rest of the crew will be working overtime trying to raise the standards after the launch.

Is there a trailer for The Bear Season 3?

There’s no The Bear Season 3 trailer yet, but once production wraps, it shouldn’t be long until one arrives before the June release date.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated when an official trailer drops.

On April 3, a clip of Season 3 was released. However, FX quickly withdrew the video from media outlets, as it was reported to have been illicitly taken during a Disney event. In it, fans got an early preview of Carmy interacting with the Fak brothers.
