Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Release Date

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has been quietly simmering for months now with tidbits of information slowly coming to light. Andy Serkis, star of the preceding three films, says that the follow-up to War for the Planet of the Apes is going to “blow people’s minds”.

While the previous trilogy explained the origins of a planet ruled by apes, it focused primarily on the struggles between a dying human race and those that would supplant them. Footage from the movie shows a world more akin to the original films in which apes are firmly on top.

If that sounds as exciting to you as it does to us, you’ll want to find out more. This is your one-stop shop for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ release date, trailers, and details.

The full trailer for the film came during Super Bowl LVIII and gave audiences a much deeper look at the movie. It did a lot to introduce the motivations of Proximus Ceaser, a new antagonist eager to dominate the newfound Planet of the Apes.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes synopsis

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes takes place long after Ceaser liberated his kind and led them against the remnants of humanity to secure their freedom. In that time, Apes have become the dominant species on Earth and humans have devolved into primitive shadows of their former selves thanks to the side-effects of the ALZ-113 virus.

While Ceaser himself will not be present, his legacy is apparent and his doctrines are still revered by many of the apes who precede him. Especially the most important, “Apes together strong”.

The story centers around a curious young ape named Noa (Owen Teague) who sets out to discover the truth of the planet’s lost history. He is guided by a wise orangutan named Raka (Peter Macon) who has kept scattered records of the past.

In his search for truth, Noa comes into conflict with Proximus Ceaser (Kevin Durand), a ruthless despot who aims to hoard the technological secrets of humans in an effort to rule the planet.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Raka
Ceaser’s influence can still be felt in the far future.
