The date every movie fan looks forward to is fast-approaching, with the Oscars 2024 ceremony set to take place on Sunday, March 10, 2024. But, to truly enjoy the show, you’ll need to have seen all the Oscar-nominated movies, and we can help with that.

Every year, the Oscars ceremony sparks debate among film fans around the world, often throwing up surprise wins, rousing speeches, and even a slap every now and again.

You can watch the big show with a passing knowledge of the movies being celebrated on the big night, of course, but it’s far more interesting if you’ve actually seen and have an opinion on the selections made by the Oscars committee.

So, we’ve scoured the streaming platforms and gathered all the information you need on how to watch all the Oscar-nominated movies this year. Please note, this list only contains feature-length fiction films, so there’s no documentaries or short films.

How to watch Oppenheimer

The latest Christopher Nolan movie to blow our minds is also the director’s most celebrated by the Academy to date, with 13 nominations in total. As well as dominating the technical fields, Oppenheimer also brought nominations for Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., and Emily Blunt.

Oppenheimer is one you’ll have to pay to watch, either by purchasing a physical copy, or renting the movie from the likes of Amazon Prime Video.

How to watch The Holdovers

A Christmas movie nominated for Best Picture? Yes, indeed, and The Holdovers is fully deserving of its five Oscar nominations. We wouldn’t be surprised to see Paul Giamatti produce a surprise win in the Best Actor race, either.

How to watch Barbie

Who knew a live-action Barbie movie would not only work, but become such a huge success? It’s one of the highest-grossing movies of all time now, and bagged eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, and Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling.

Barbie is available to stream on HBO’s Max platform, or you can purchase/rent from the usual digital sources.

How to watch Killers of the Flower Moon

When Martin Scorsese brings out a new movie, we are obliged to pay attention. Killers of the Flower Moon is the most melancholic and meaningful film to come from the legendary director, and it picked up an impressive 10 Oscar nominations, including a much-deserved nod for Lily Gladstone.

As an Apple TV production, Killers of the Flower Moon can be watched on the platform.

How to watch Poor Things

Yorgos Lanthimos loves to make his movies as weird as possible, and with Poor Things, he has outdone himself. As absurd as this Frankenstein-inspired flick may be, it’s absolutely brilliant, and could well pick up plenty of wins from its 11 nominations.

Poor Things is actually unavailable to watch on any digital platforms, and it hasn’t had a physical release yet. The movie will be available on Hulu as of March 7, though, so there’s not long to wait.

How to watch Anatomy of a Fall

We love to see international cinema being recognized by the Academy, and Anatomy of a Fall is one of the best foreign language films of the last year, for sure. This courtroom drama picked up five nominations in total, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress.

Anatomy of a Fall is not available on any dedicated streaming services, but you can purchase or rent it via Amazon Prime Video.

Nyad was one of the big surprises of the Oscar nominations announcements, with both Annettte Bening and Jodie Foster picking up nods for Lead Actress and Support Actress. It’s another Netflix production, so you can watch it there, and there only.

Just the one nomination for The Color Purple, but a fairly big one, as Danielle Brooks is part of the Support Actress category. You can watch this dazzling musical on Max right now.

Many film fans claim May December suffered some of the more heinous Oscar snubs this year, with Charles Melton not making it into the Supporting Actor category. The Todd Haynes flick did get one nomination, though, for Original Screenplay, and readers in the US can catch it on Netflix now.

Germany’s submission for the Foreign Language category is sadly not available to watch on any digital platforms, and you can’t catch The Teacher’s Lounge in theaters either.

You can still catch The Boy and the Heron in select theaters across the US and UK but you’ll have to be quick. There is currently no sign of when or where this Studio Ghibli movie will arrive on a streaming platform, but we’ll update you when we hear anything.

You can always guarantee a nomination for any Disney/Pixar collaboration, and Elemental has found itself in the Animated Feature category this year. The film is available on Disney Plus for subscribers to the service.

Nimona was one of the best animated movies of 2023, and it was rightfully recognized as part of the Animated Feature category at the Oscars this year. It’s a Netflix original, so you will be able to watch it on the platform if you have a subscription.

If not, Netflix has actually made the movie available in its entirety on YouTube so that everyone can enjoy it.
