It pains us to say it, but Clueless is now almost 30 years old. Now, rumors of a Clueless 2 sequel are circulating, but here is the truth.

Ah, 1995… the year we were wearing plaid, trying to explain to our rich dads who Calvin Klein is, and phoning our best friend while walking down the high school halls. If that doesn’t sound quite like your teen years, it’s the plot of the 1995 feel-good movie Clueless.

Bound to be a popular viewing choice for Valentine’s Day — or Galentines — the movie remains one of the most popular releases from the ’90s, going on to be referenced in various films and music videos ever since.

Almost 30 years later, rumblings of a new movie are doing the rounds… but how much truth is behind the rumors? Here’s everything you need to know.

Is there a new Clueless movie? “Sequel” explained

No. Clueless 2 isn’t real, and there are no plans.

A fake Facebook poster for Clueless 2, made on Facebook.

Surprise surprise, the brain behind the “sequel” news is none other than the King of Facebook fake news, YODA BBY ABY.

In our best Troy McClure voice, you might remember this page from its fake movie posters as Big Grand Daddy, live-action Coraline, and Batman Invincible, which are all just from one week.

In the case of the fake Clueless 2, Alicia Silverstone is cast in the role of Mom, with Paul Rudd returning as Cher’s hunky arm candy. Their supposed child? None other than Kiernan Shipka, best known for her roles in Totally Killer and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

The fake film’s synopsis reads: “Dive into the fabulously fun world of “CLUELESS,” where Kiernan Shipka shines as Cherry, the stylish yet aimless daughter of the iconic Cher (Alicia Silverstone) and Josh (Paul Rudd). As Cherry navigates life with her special edition Pink Tesla, shopping sprees, and endless hangouts, her parents concoct a charmingly quirky plan to kickstart her career in the dazzling realm of Artists and Entertainers.

“Catch this lighthearted sequel to the 1995 classic in theaters June 2024, and join the next generation of fashion, fun, and finding one’s path.”

Sadly, we won’t be catching the Clueless sequel this June, or ever. What we can bank on, however, is a plethora of fake movie posters yet to come.
