Below Deck Med production accused of planting Katie Flood for Season 8 storyline

Former Below Deck Med bosun Katie Flood has made an unexpected cameo in Season 8 without showing her face.

While Bosun Luka Brunton has managed to find himself in several romantic storylines throughout this season, the newest one was the most surprising.

He revealed in a previous episode that he was in communication with former Med star Katie Flood, who happened to be in the same area they were filming at the time.

Even though Katie hasn’t officially appeared in the season, she is now a frequent talking point in Season 8 and Captain Sandy Yawn has even gone as far as calling her Luka’s “girlfriend”.

It is common for the stars of the BD crew to become friends and communicate with each other, but since Luka and Katie have never been on the same season before, some viewers are calling production out.

Was Katie Flood planted in Below Deck Med Season 8?

On January 13, Med viewers took to Reddit to share their theory that production pushed Katie Flood hard this season, not only for Luka to get the spotlight, but to promote her role in Winter House Season 3.

One fan wrote, “I don’t buy that she texted out of the blue. Somehow the producers got hold of her and told her to text Luka. It just seems too convenient. Obviously, I have no proof, but, I wouldn’t put it past the producers.”

Another fan chimed in and wrote, “It reminds Winter House viewers she was on BD, too. This might be the producers throwing a bone to Bravo.”

A Reddit user also brought up the prediction that “they’re setting it up where next season of Med she’s chief and he’s bosun.” Because Katie did recently mention that she’s not completely opposed to making a return to the series, this could be an accurate guess.
