After Overwatch 2 fans crunched the numbers on Sombra’s rework, some are worried that the stealthy hacker’s new kit might be a downgrade.

As many Overwatch 2 fans know, Sombra was the latest character to receive a rework following others like Bastion and Doomfist.

Sombra’s rework comes as part of Season 7, with the development team stating that the overall goal of her new kit is to keep Sombra’s identity while making her more committed to the opponents she’s targeting.

After seeing plenty of new details surrounding the rework, however, some Sombra fans are split on whether or not these changes will amount to an overall buff or nerf for the Damage Hero.

Overwatch 2 fans divided over Sombra rework

A post on the Overwatch subreddit sparked a discussion among the community, with fans debating the merits and concerns surrounding Sombra’s rework.

The thread used evidence provided by Blizzard’s development blog post as well as an in-depth analysis video made by OW2 content creator Fitzyhere.

The post essentially broke down and compared the numbers for Sombra’s weapons, abilities, and much more.

Overall, there seemed to be many positives and negatives to Sombra’s new kits and players began working out how they felt about the changes.

One of the biggest points of contention surrounded Sombra’s Translocator, which is now an instant teleport based on a thrown projectile.

“The hell did they do to the Translocator? It’s basically just a short TP tool now. After reading everything I don’t think I’m ever playing Sombra again,” said one fan.

Others argued the new teleport aligned better with her new focus. “That’s the point. They want a Sombra to be with the team more often than not. The playstyle of always TP-ing back to a health pack is what is causing issues,” explained another player.

On the other hand, some players worried that the rework would simply make her less fun to play. “Balance aside these changes seem to make her objectively less fun. Less button pushes and less flank survivability. Gone will be the heart racing moments of activating translocator with 10HP.”

Sombra’s rework officially goes live when Season 7 begins, so players will be able to make their final judgment on her new kit soon.
