The One Ring’s reign of terror in MTG may finally be over thanks to this unassuming new card coming in Muders at Karlov Manor.

MTG Murders at Karlov Manor is chock-full of powerful new creature options. From new Gruul mole God Anzrag to Commanders like Judith and The Pride of Hull Clade, MTG players will have no shortage of new ways to play aggressively.

Now, a Creature card has been revealed that slows things down somewhat; an excellent control option rather than a heavy-hitter.

Doorkeeper Thrull invites players to shut down their opponents’ plans

Doorkeeper Thrull is a new white mana Creature announced as part of MTG’s Murders at Karlov Manor reveals.

Doorkeeper Thrull has a somewhat paltry stat line, but Flying always helps to boost the efficacy of even weak creatures. But players will rarely be dropping Doorkeeper Thrull for its stats, instead relying on its ability to negate Artifact and Creature ETB triggers.

The crucial part of Doorkeeper Thrull is its inherent Flash ability. Being able to cast this creature at Instant speed means that you can shut down your opponents’ triggers and grind their strategy to a halt, all outside of your own turn.

MTG fans react to Doorkeeper Thrull

This creature’s reveal has made a splash right away, with fans taking to social media to debate the card’s merits, with many coming out in its favor.

On Reddit, user RAcastBlaster said:

“I adore Flash on stuff like this.”

Outside of general praise, many MTG players were focused on the fact that Doorkeeper Thrull serves as an effective counter to The One Ring, an Artifact that has dominated many levels of play since its debut.

Reddit commenter strolpol stated:

“Turns off The One Ring protection, hilariously. Seems like a great hate card to add to the toolbox.”

Doorkeeper Thrull’s wide applicability will likely see use in a number of MTG strategies, and the card will be available to players once Murders at Karlov Manor launches on February 9.
