New League of Legends champion Qiyana is now playable on the Public Beta Environment (PBE).

Qiyana, The Empress of Elements, is the game’s latest champion, a solo-lane assassin with some unique new mechanics.

Her abilities have different effects depending on which “element” she is currently channeling. Using her “Terrashape” ability, Qiyana can draw power from Brushes, the River, or Walls, which then determines what additional effects her other abilities will have.

Riot GamesQiyana is the newest champion to join League of Legends.

Qiyana’s abiltiies

Passice – Royal Privilege

The first attack or ability against an enemy champ deals bonus damage. This cooldown resets when she draws a new element.

Q – Edge of Ixtal

Qiyana slashes the area in front of her dealing damage. If her weapon is using an element, her weapon hurls forward as a projectile and explodes.

  • River – Roots opponents on hit.
  • Wall – Deals bonus damage to units with low health.
  • Brush – Leaves a stealth trail that gives movement speed.

W – Terrashape

Targeting an element, Qiyana dashes forward to gather its power. While enchanted, she gains movement speed near the element, attack speed, and bonus damage.

E – Audacity

Qiyana dashes a fixed distance towards a target, dealing damage to them.

R – Supreme Display of Talent

Qiyana creates a shockwave, knocking back enemies. Any River, Brush, or Wall hit by the shockwave then explodes dealing damage and briefly stunning enemies.

Qiyana isn’t due to go live until Patch 9.13, which is likely still weeks away with 9.12 only having arrived on June 11, but in the meantime players can get their first hands-on experience with Qiyana on the PBE.

In addition to Qiyana, the current version of the PBE also includes new Arcade skins for Caitlyn and Kai’Sa, including a Prestige version for Caitlyn, as well as Battle Boss skins for Qiyana and Yasuo.

How to use the League of Legends PBE

League of Legends players looking to try out Qiyana before she arrives on the live servers with Patch 9.13 will have to log into the Public Beta Environment.

To do so, players must download a separate PBE client, as well as signing up for a PBE account. In order to be eligible for a PBE account, your standard League of Legends account must be in good standing, at honor level 3 with no bans or restrictions on it.

PBE accounts will automatically be levelled up to 30, and it’s possible to earn Blue Essence by completing a repeatable mission. All content that requires testing will be available for a small amount of Blue Essence.

Riot dev reveals Ornn ability buffs for League 2021 preseason

A Riot Games developer has revealed League of Legends 2021 preseason buffs for Ornn’s Masterwork passive ability after the latest set of changes were expected to nerf the champion during the massive item overhaul.

While there are 150 unique champions in League of Legends, Ornn could be one of the characters affected most by the upcoming item overhaul, as his Passive ability can upgrade items for himself and teammates.

Ornn is currently one of the most played top lane champions in League of Legends, particularly in pro play, after becoming the leading champion for picks and bans at Worlds 2020, appearing in 90.4% of champion select phases, but he may soon fall out of the meta.

Ornn’s ‘Living Forge’ skills are set to receive some buffs in the preseason.

Concerns were raised for the future of the Forgelord after Riot devs initially revealed changes to his passive ability that would remove one of his masterwork items, resulting in a considerable nerf of around 400 HP.

However, Riot developer Phlox has now responded to the concerns, sharing some new changes that the LoL design team is testing on PBE, to buff the fan-favorite Freljordian’s passive once again.

The League of Legends dev explained that, while Ornn would not be able to upgrade two items at the level 13 mark, there would be other ways for him to gain resistances to opponents’ damage.

“Put an experimental change to Ornn for preseason on PBE,” he explained, “now every time he upgrades any mythic to a masterwork his passive Armor/MR amp increases by 5% (10% without upgrades, same as live).”

Unlike the current version of Ornn, the champion’s new passive ability would gain Magic Resist and Armor from simply upgrading Mythic items for himself or others.

While this was listed as an “experimental change,” Phlox also indicated on the Ornn Mains subreddit that this was the direction they wanted to take with Ornn and that there may be more changes with the statistics before live release.

As of now, the start date for the League of Legends 2021 preseason has yet to be announced by Riot but is expected to go live in November.
