Fortnite‘s Chapter 2, Season 1 is drawing to a close and with just a few weeks remaining before the start of the new season, Epic Games are releasing four sets of Overtime challenges, with the second Mission titled ‘8-Ball vs Scratch’ going live on January 16.

After weeks of waiting on an update, Fortnite fans finally received a brand-new patch on January 15, with the v11.40 patch introducing the new Sidegrading tool which allows players to exchange their normal Assault Rifle for the returning Heavy variant by offering up materials as part of the trade.

Also included in the new update are new challenges for players to sink their teeth into as the season winds down to an end, with 8-Ball vs Scratch following the Remedy vs Toxin Mission, offering players some final opportunities to rank up their Battle Pass and earn some cool cosmetic rewards.

Fortnite fans will be ignoring the rules for these Overtime challenges.

Epic Games add new challenges to the game every Thursday, with 8-Ball vs Scratch going live on Thursday, January 16, offering massive XP rewards and a special Harvesting Tool to those who complete all nine of the challenges.

Like last week’s Remedy vs Toxin Mission, Epic Games don’t appear to have any set theme for the challenges, but players will be travelling around the map a lot if they hope to finish all nine and earn their rewards. A gnome has been hidden between Fancy View, a wooden shack, and a big house, and Fortnite fans will need to hunt it down and interact with it to complete one of the week’s most difficult tasks.

Players will also need to dance at Rainbow Rentals, Beach Bus, and Lake Canoe for another of the challenges, hunt down areas marked with “No swimming” signs and take a dip anyway, and visit Base Camps found in the mountains, meaning competitors will see plenty of the Chapter 2 map as they hunt down Victory Royales while completing the Mission. You can view the full 8-Ball vs Scratch challenges below.

Fortnite 8-Ball vs Scratch Overtime Mission challenges

    • Reach Battle Pass Tier 60
    • Complete nine ‘8-Ball Vs. Scratch’ Mission Objectives
    • Earn Bronze Battle Medals by getting three eliminations in a match
    • Ring the doorbell of a house with an opponent inside in three different matches
    • Dance at Rainbow Rentals, Beach Bus, and Lake Canoe
    • Swim at two different No Swimming signs
    • Deal 75 damage with a Harpoon Gun to opponents
    • Gain Health or Shields in a bush
    • Search the hidden gnome found in between Fancy View, a wooden shack, and a big house
    • Bounce on bouncy objects in three different matches
    • Visit mountain Base Camps (1)
    • Travel 100 meters while dancing

These challenges may sound difficult, but the rewards definitely make them worthwhile, as each task offers 52,000 XP as a reward, which will help you level up quickly and earn more Battle Stars to rank up your Battle Pass as you grind your way to the special Tier 100 skin.

Remember though, you need to have completed Tier 60 of the Battle Pass to take this Mission on, so if you haven’t made it there yet, you’ll need to keep playing before you can start these challenges.

Fortnite Galactus skin leaked ahead of Season 4 finale event

Just days ahead of Fortnite’s Galactus live event on December 1, data-miners have leaked a highly anticipated Galactus skin without spoiling event details.

Galactus, the “Devourer of Worlds,” has been approaching Fortnite’s island and his unavoidable arrival is finally nigh. In a one-time-only, live Season 4 “Nexus War” finale on December 1, Marvel’s world-eater and Epic Games’ player base will collide.

While fans currently know that the gigantic, cosmic entity is making his way to the Island and that something will be happening on the aforementioned date at 4 p.m. ET, few details are available.

Fortunately for impatient aficionados of the battle royale, dataminers have leaked a Galactus skin that should be coming to the game’s shop with a bundle at some point.

The Galactus skin doesn’t seem massive, but it’s definitely spooky.

While it’s unclear exactly how similar this skin will be to the teased images of a gargantuan, shadowy Galactus shared by Epic themselves, the skin most certainly presents an imposing figure.

Dressed in glistening jet black and red, the skin features regal, villainous armor bookended by chunky boots and a massive helmet. Eagle-eyed fans might even notice a particularly smug smile sitting across the infamous villain’s purple face.

It remains uncertain if this skin will be available for purchase and, if so, when it will be. But leakers like ‘ximton’ have discovered files indicating it could be part of a bundle. Still, in order to save fans from leaks, dataminers have remained largely quiet about specific event details.

Fortnite Galactus event – what we know so far

A variety of leaks have already surfaced, showing a gigantic Galactus and teasing the possibilities of a major battle between Marvel’s heroes and the cosmic world-eater. But Epic Games have tried to keep things on the low, only confirming that “the fate of all Reality lies in the balance.”

As mentioned earlier, the finale event begins on Tuesday, December 1 at 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT, 9 p.m. GMT) and its exact duration is unknown. Epic have advised players to download the latest update (14.60) and Houseparty (which is integrated with Fortnite to allow for live video chat).
