Yozora Mel terminated from Hololive

Hololive Production has confirmed Gen 1 talent Yozora Mel has been terminated after the long-serving VTuber was found to have leaked important information to multiple third parties.

While Hololive hasn’t endured as many controversies as some of its peers, the VTuber agency does take swift action when it comes to contract breaches. This was apparent when former talent Uruha Rushia was terminated in 2022 for leaking sensitive information.

Almost two years on and history has repeated. Yozora Mel is one of Hololive’s original talents, debuting as part of First Gen in May 2018. However, despite her long tenure, her contract has been terminated similar to Rushia.

Hololive says a serious breach of her contract left them with no choice but to cut ties with Mel, making her the second VTuber to make a shock exit from their agency in 2024 already.

In an announcement posted on January 16, Hololive confirmed the termination of Yozora Mel, stating, “We regret to announce that as of January 16th, 2024, we have terminated our Virtual YouTuber Master Agreement with Yozora Mel of hololive.”

Elaborating, the announcement continues, “It has been confirmed that Yozora Mel has been engaging in acts that violated her contract by leaking information to third parties that she acquired from the company.”

Deciding it was too much to overlook, the agency said, “As a result, we have determined that it has become difficult to continue managing and supporting her and have elected to make this decision.”

Hololive went on to thank fans for supporting Mel during her 5 years and 8 months of service but insisted it is “taking this matter very seriously,” and plans to “make further efforts into instructing our affiliated talents on compliance matters, so that similar incidents do not happen again in the future.”

This shock announcement makes Yozora Mel the fifth Hololive JP member to leave the agency. This follows Hitomi Chris, Mano Aloe, Kiryu Coco, and Uruha Rushia with the majority of those being terminated rather than leaving on their own terms.
