Disney Dreamlight Valley is facing some changes in its next update, and players have been defending those changes despite some claiming it’s a “scam.”

The next Disney Dreamlight Valley update is upon us and brings with it some loveable new characters, a Monsters Inc themed Star Path, and some major changes to Scrooges Store, furniture, and the beloved premium shop.

However, not all players are loving the shop changes, with some labeling it a “scam” and calling for more transparency from Gameloft. That being said, it’s now rallied the community in the game’s defense, with many welcoming the key changes.

Sharing their support on the Disney Dreamlight Valley Reddit, one user asked the community if “anyone else [was] ready to see people get super angry about this?”

Along with the question, they shared a point from the patch notes, which detailed that “more optional items are coming to the Premium Shop for a limited time, as well as some returning favorites from past Star Paths.” While many were thrilled to see the new items, the previous Star Path ‘exclusives’ have caused quite the divide.

“So many people were saying how unfair it’d be to get previous items and I fully disagree. It doesn’t take anything from you for other people to spend their moonstones” added the poster, revealing just how divisive the issue has been for the community.

Despite the frustrations, players took to the comments to back up the decision, explaining how someone “has already called this a scam and a rip off. So it’s safe to say the (stupid) hate over this topic has been reignited once again.”

Interestingly, it’s predominantly new players who are praising the changes, with one sharing: “As a new player, this makes me so happy – I’ve been upset about just missing the last Star Path, so being able to eventually get the looks for Ariel and Belle is a huge relief” while another revealed: “I for one am very happy about this news! As someone who missed out on the villains’ Halloween star path because I was unable to buy the game at the time, I found it pretty sad that I couldn’t get those spooktacular decor to decorate my valley for one of my favorite holidays.”

However, others agreed with the frustrations, highlighting that the issue is with Gameloft mislabeling the Star Path items previously: “Don’t label things as “exclusive” or “limited time” items if you are going to bring them back. While it doesn’t effect me or my game, it’s slightly annoying for those of us that have been playing since day 1 or shortly after.”

While many agreed with the poster and supported the changes, others felt a little hard done by, and one player revealed why the community may actually be getting less than what they called for: “If I’m mad it’s because I was hoping it would rerun old Star Paths for these down time weeks where we aren’t doing anything anyway.”

The addition of Star Path items in the shop will imply that we won’t be getting any old Star Path reruns in the future, which can be frustrating for those who voted for it in the DDV survey. Regardless, it’s clear fans are thrilled to get the items they may have missed back into their Valleys.
