The CWL Anaheim Winners Bracket is Set After Some Surprising Pool Play Results
The final results from pool play at CWL Anaheim are in, meaning the first matches for the winners bracket are now set.
There was some big upsets which have unsettled the balance slightly, but the teams coming out on top of the groups certainly look the strongest on form.
Pool A was straightforward for Red Reserve, who finished 4-0 series count dropping only three maps, but it was much tighter between the other sides.
eUnited started poorly on day one, leaving them in the third spot with a 2-2 record, while FaZe bounced back from their loss against Red to win their next three matches.
Rise Nation did eventually tie up pool B, in spite of their shaky start losing 3-0 to Team Kaliber, and Luminosity secured second. tK’s shock defeat to Enigma6 ultimately cost them a winners bracket spot.
Pool C came to an insane finish, largely due to Evil Geniuses abysmal day one where they lost all three of their opening games. Three teams finished 3-1 – Mindfreak surprised to beat EG and Echo Fox in game five wins, but due to head-to-head record narrowly missed out on the winners bracket. UNILAD took the top spot, while Echo Fox got 2nd due to head-to-head.
Pool D was the most closely contested, with the exception of OpTic Gaming who went a flawless 4-0, both Splyce and Envy finished 2-2 after Splyce was beaten by open bracket team Conquest. Conquest themselves ended bottom of the group despite their very impressive performances, as they were beaten 3-0 by CompLexity.
