Apex Legends stats reveal why Lifeline’s “buff” is pointless

Recently revealed stats appear to indicate that the buff given to Lifeline in the Apex Legends Old Ways Lore event has been nigh on pointless – with many fans even calling for a rework.

Despite her popularity in nearly every season of Apex Legends so far, recent nerfs (and buffs to her rivals) have seen Lifeline fall in terms of competitive viability. In order to combat this, Respawn Entertainment gave her something of a buff in the April 7 patch.

This gave her a new Passive Ability, enabling her to gain access to extra healing items through blue bins scattered around the map. While this sounds like a useful new trick, new statistics appear to contradict its relative strength.

Lifeline has been one of Apex Legends’ most popular characters.

The stats were shared by one Apex Legends fan on April 10, and show why the Lifeline buff has barely changed the healing medic’s viability.

In the game’s current build, only 10% of the supply bins in the game are blue. On top of this relatively low percentage, the player suggests that the chance of getting a “useful” item in the supply bins is around 20%.

Combining these two statistics will calculate the overall percentage of finding a useful item in a blue bin. The user’s maths shows this to be 2% – a buff which many feel is insufficient and even pointless.

WOW, this buff is out of hands! from r/apexlegends

It’s fair to say that 2% is a very low probability, but Respawn were probably cautious of making Lifeline too strong.

However, the stats follows some serious discussion in the Apex community about the viability of Lifeline. Some players have even said that they have ditched the medic in favor of buffed legends, like Gibraltar.

Of course, the notion of a “useful” item is fairly subjective depending on the specific situation the player finds themself in.

In an early game situation, blue items may be useful to a player. However, in the late game, when they have done more looting, they may already have purple items.

It remains to be seen how Respawn will respond to the community feedback. There’s every possibility that the buff to Lifeline was supposed to be minimal to prevent her from becoming too strong. We’ll have to wait and see how this one plays out.

Apex Legends is adding a no-guns LTM in Season 7: Olympus Preview

If you saw the new Apex Legends map called Olympus and thought to yourself “I’d like to explore that without having to deal with annoying enemies”, then Respawn Entertainment has the perfect solution: a no-weapon LTM called Olympus Preview.

With the start of Season 7, Respawn Entertainment is adding a brand new map to Apex Legends called Olympus. After being rumored for quite a while now, the developers finally confirmed the news during the Season 7 trailer, and gave fans an even deeper dive into the map during the gameplay reveal.

While that’s all well and good, being forced to jump into a map that you don’t know and immediately fight other players trying to experience the same thing is always a bit annoying in battle royale games. Luckily, the developers seem to have a solution, and it’s a cool concept.

New Olympus Preview LTM

With the start of Season 7, Respawn will be including a new limited-time mode called Olympus Preview, which will allow players to explore and experience everything the new map has to offer without having to deal with other opponents that immediately try to kill you.

The new 30-player mode will give fans an opportunity to jump into the map and test it out to their heart’s content. They’ll even be able to test the circles.

When a new map gets added to a battle royale game, not just Apex Legends, a lot of players just want a few matches to explore and experience it before having to fight others, so this helps solve that problem.

Soon players will be able to jump into the new Apex map thanks to a weapon-free mode called Olympus Preview.

It also helps fans familiarize themselves with it so that they aren’t jumping in completely blind. The first Ranked split will be on Olympus too, so if you’re a competitive player, this new LTM comes highly recommended.

It’ll be interesting to see Apex continues this trend as time goes on. Obviously, that would require them to keep adding new maps but, nevertheless, it’s a fun concept to say the least.
