Apex Legends players have found clues that may have revealed the identity of the next new Legend to be released in the game.

The highly anticipated second season of Apex Legends will be releasing soon, and is set to include a lot of new content for the popular battle royale.

One of the major pieces of new content will be the next Legend, Wattson, who will have some pretty exciting new abilities at her disposal.

However, Wattson may not be the only new Legend that makes its debut in Season 2, as recent clues that have popped up point to a possible second playable hero added as well.

The new Legend is believed to be named Crypto, a character about whom nothing is really known about at this point except for his appearance.

Respawn EntertainmentCrypto could be another brand new Legend added in Apex Legends Season 2.

Recently, Reddit user FrozenFroh posted an in-depth breakdown of what he suspects will be an in-game event that will launch the start of Season 2.

In his post, the data-miner includes a screenshot taken from the game files showing a file called ‘crypto_laptop_tease,’ which he believes will play a role in said in-game event.

He then goes on to substantiate his theory with screenshots taken from official trailers and other pieces of game art that he believes are strong suggestions and clues that some sort of major change is coming to the map, and that Crypto will play a role in it.

According to FrozenFroh:

  • Crypto is the Korean guy from Pathfinder’s background art
  • His sword is in the S2 Logo
  • His data-mined abilities involve JAMMING: from stopping Pathfinder’s maphacks to stopping Bloodhound’s Sonar ability.

FrozenFroh believes that this character will JAM the Repulsor, which will cause a flood, and much more, in Season 2.

FrozenFroh followed his post up with another one on June 21, yet again presenting what he believes are clues that Crypto will indeed have some role to play at the start and possibly even during Season 2.

Another Apex Legend expert, YouTuber Staycation, presenting his take on the data-mined leaked in a recent video, theorizing that Crypto will use his abilities to hack the Repulsor Tower and open it, releasing creatures into the map, including the mysterious new Flyers.

Segment on Crypto starts at 1:06 mark

Crypto’s name first surfaced when an image was leaked back in March containing a slew of new Legends that had not been released at that point.

One of the characters shown in that image was Wattson, who has, of course, since been confirmed to be on her way to King’s Canyon.

The leaked list of upcoming Legends includes the confirmed Wattson and Crypto.

Crypto can also be seen on a poster that’s hanging in the background of poster art for the Pathfinder. Although the robotic character is very much the central focus of the image, the mysterious new Legend’s presence can clearly be seen on the top left corner of the art.

It’s worth noting that this artwork has been used by Respawn Entertainment in official capacity, which would likely not have happened if Crypto was nothing more than just a rumor.

While all of this information points to Respawn possibly surprising their fan-base with the introduction of not one but two brand new Legends in Season 2, it must all be taken with a grain of salt, since nothing has been officially confirmed or announced.

Even if Crypto is not released as a playable character during the second season, considering that there is a lot more info out there about him than any other unreleased Legend, it could be that Respawn have him lined up for Season 3.

If you saw the new Apex Legends map called Olympus and thought to yourself “I’d like to explore that without having to deal with annoying enemies”, then Respawn Entertainment has the perfect solution: a no-weapon LTM called Olympus Preview.

With the start of Season 7, Respawn Entertainment is adding a brand new map to Apex Legends called Olympus. After being rumored for quite a while now, the developers finally confirmed the news during the Season 7 trailer, and gave fans an even deeper dive into the map during the gameplay reveal.

While that’s all well and good, being forced to jump into a map that you don’t know and immediately fight other players trying to experience the same thing is always a bit annoying in battle royale games. Luckily, the developers seem to have a solution, and it’s a cool concept.

New Olympus Preview LTM

With the start of Season 7, Respawn will be including a new limited-time mode called Olympus Preview, which will allow players to explore and experience everything the new map has to offer without having to deal with other opponents that immediately try to kill you.

The new 30-player mode will give fans an opportunity to jump into the map and test it out to their heart’s content. They’ll even be able to test the circles.

When a new map gets added to a battle royale game, not just Apex Legends, a lot of players just want a few matches to explore and experience it before having to fight others, so this helps solve that problem.

Soon players will be able to jump into the new Apex map thanks to a weapon-free mode called Olympus Preview.

It also helps fans familiarize themselves with it so that they aren’t jumping in completely blind. The first Ranked split will be on Olympus too, so if you’re a competitive player, this new LTM comes highly recommended.

It’ll be interesting to see Apex continues this trend as time goes on. Obviously, that would require them to keep adding new maps but, nevertheless, it’s a fun concept to say the least.
