Travis Kelce’s dad, Ed Kelce, has admitted that Taylor Swift’s name slipped his mind the first time they met.

Taylor Swift’s relationship with NFL player Travis Kelce has taken the world by storm, and things seem to be heating up with some fans even suspecting an engagement on the horizon.

It’s already known that the couple has met each other’s families, Taylor having been spotted watching one of her boyfriend’s games with his mom beside her.

However, in a hilarious turn of events, it turns out that the first time Taylor met Travis’ dad, Ed Kelce, things went a little unexpectedly — he couldn’t remember her name.

Despite her nickname as the “Queen of Pop,” Ed admitted he forgot Taylor’s name.

While speaking on commercial radio station Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, Ed explained that he first met Taylor before a Kansas City Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri.

“When Travis has a lot of friends coming into town to the game, everyone meets at his house, although he’s not there,” Ed explained.

“Taylor walks in with a security guy, and I look at her, and I say [to my girlfriend], ‘Oh my god, I know this kid, but I don’t know what her name is,'” he admitted. “Jeez, you know, like a real idiot.”

However, Ed’s girlfriend was able to step in before he had to ask Taylor to introduce herself; “And [my girlfriend] says, ‘You don’t know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.'”

Ed also admitted he was more frequently recognized in public since Taylor and Travis started dating, saying, “I’ll be in the grocery store, somebody will smile and say, ‘Hey!’ … And I have no idea who they are. That has certainly picked up and become more frequent by a long shot than the before Taylor days.”

Despite the newfound attention, it seems Ed approves of his son’s pop star girlfriend; “I don’t know that Taylor is out there trying to make money, trying to build this huge empire. I think she’s out there following her passion, doing what she knows and what she enjoys.”
