Disney and Pixar have announced major news for a batch of sequels including Toy Story 5, with fans only pleading for them to “stop.”

2024 is already set to be a remarkable year for Walt Disney Studios, with Inside Out 2 set to be released in a few months time and a surprise sequel to Moana announced for the end of the year.

On top of this, the studio has also firmed up plans for a whole host of sequels for existing movies, including Toy Story 5, Frozen 3, and Star Wars.

However, instead of sending viewers into a usual hyped frenzy, fans are instead calling for Disney to “stop” its sequels once and for all.

Fans are asking Disney to “stop” with the sequels after the studio announced news for a batch of its new movies, including Toy Story 5.

Frozen 3 and Toy Story 5 are both set to be released in 2026, with plans for Frozen 4 having already been teased before this. In addition, Disney dropped the surprise news that Moana would be getting a sequel in November 2024, although further details about the film are as of yet unknown.

While some fans can see why the Frozen franchise will continue, most are left scratching their heads when it comes to Toy Story getting a fifth outing. By the end of Toy Story 3, Andy had officially given his toys away, suggesting a final wrap-up to the franchise as a trilogy. However, the toys got yet another adventure in Toy Story 4, which ended with Woody allegedly making his final goodbye by handing his sheriff’s badge over to Jessie.

“Frozen I absolutely get but I still can’t comprehend the need for a Toy Story 5…” one fan posted on X/Twitter in response to the news, with a second agreeing, “The Toys don’t have any more story Leave them in the chest where they lay with my heart.”

While the Toy Story news is concerning for many, others are taking issue with Disney’s approach to its moviemaking as a whole.

“STOP ANNOUNCING MOVIES 30 YEARS BEFORE RELEASE OMG,” one fan complained, with another weighing in, “NOBODY WANTS ANY OF THESE, especially Toy Story 5. Please stop Disney.”

“Considering that Frozen is one of the worst series Disney has ever produced, it will still go on to make a billion dollars. I can only hope that Toy Story 5 is more of a return to form like Toy Story 3. But at least I know my kids will be happy,” a third user summed up.
