Once you’ve seen it, you can’t forget it – but where was the Baywatch movie filmed? Here’s everything you need to know about the feature’s filming locations.

Starring the likes of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron, Baywatch follows Mitch, a dedicated and loved lifeguard of Florida’s Emerald Bay, who sets out to save the beach from a new synthetic drug by enlisting the help of a new recruit and his team members.

The reboot has been given mixed reviews by fans, clocking in with a Tomatometer rating of just 17% over on Rotten Tomatoes.

That being said, Baywatch is a story that viewers can’t seem to get enough of – but where was it filmed? Here are all of its filming locations explained.

Where was Baywatch filmed? All filming location

Below you’ll find a complete list of filming locations used in Baywatch – the 2017 film that is, not the original TV series.

Back in the 1990s, the Pamela Anderson-led show was filmed in the Will Rogers State Beach in Santa Monica Bay, California, with the 2017 film based on the original Malibu setting.

Florida, U.S.A.

The fictional Baywatch beach of Emerald Bay in Broward County, Florida, was filmed in the state as well, with filming locations across Boca Raton and beyond.

Emerald Bay was made up of multiple locations, such as the opening scene being filmed at the Boca Raton Inlet. Additional scenes were shot at Boca Raton’s South Beach, Deerfield Beach, Boca Raton Resort, and North Broadwalk in Hollywood Beach Broadwalk.

Iconic green lifeguard towers that can be seen in the movie were actually purpose-built for the set, meaning they were dismantled straight after shooting.

Emerald Bay Municipal Center was actually a senior citizen center in Miami Beach that doubled its purpose for filming.

Georgia, U.S.A.

Tybee Island Beach in Georgia made up the filming location for Ronnie and Dave’s meeting with C. J. Parker, alongside additional scenes including lifeguard tryouts and the young mom and kids being saved at the pier. Estill Hammock Marina was also used for the jet ski chase scene.

Morgue scenes were filmed at Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia, with the Savannah’s Memorial University Medical Center doubling up for filming.

Though the Baywatch set look might have been easy to achieve, the personal looks were more difficult, with Zac Efron telling Variety “That ‘Baywatch’ look, I don’t know if that’s really attainable. There’s just too little water in the skin. Like, it’s fake; it looks CGI’d. And that required Lasix, powerful diuretics, to achieve. So I don’t need to do that. I much prefer to have an extra, you know, two to three percent body fat.”
