A man on TikTok has put the viral Stanley cup to the ultimate test by placing it under his “solar death ray” and the results left him surprised.

Throughout 2023 and continuing in 2024, users around social media have been sharing their interest in the 40oz Stanley Quencher cup.

We’ve seen countless customers line up outside of stores for the viral cups, while others are embarrassed to own one due to the culture surrounding it.

TikToker Joemyheck has been curious about how well these cups are made, so he placed one of his daughter’s cups under a “solar death ray” to see how it would survive.

Man surprised after putting Stanley cup under solar death ray

Uploaded on January 28, 2024, Joe says his daughter donated one of her Stanley cups for the experiment so he brought it out to the “solar death ray.”

Joemyheck put the cup on top of a brick and angled his giant magnifying glass so that the sun’s rays focused on a spot beside the famous Stanley logo.

It immediately started to burn, and after leaving it under the light for quite some time the TikToker was left surprised with the results.

“Even though the solar death ray melted through the outer layer of the cup, the inner steel layer put up quite a bit of resistance,” he said. “It actually failed to burn a hole clean through the wall of the cup.”

Users quickly took to the comments to share their thoughts on the now-viral video, with many focused on the fact that the TikToker owns a “solar death ray.”

“Dude I want a solar death ray I would have so much fun,” one user replied.

Another commented: “Damn. The amount of free marketing [Stanley] gets from this app is wild.”

“Stanley gonna buy you a brand new solar death ray for this,” one user joked. This comment is in reference to a viral incident from November 2023, where a lady received a new car from Stanley after posting that it survived after her car burnt to the ground.
